Hi Leanne
I suggest you may use PSLE Oral book as a guide for the above.
However, the best way is still to communicate in Mandarin daily as in long run it also benefit in CL Compo.
Perhaps this can also ease our potential problem if the weightage in Oral increase (very likely) when our children are in Secondary School.
Just my 2 cents thought.
Thank you -

Hi Leanne,
Hi LeanneLeanne:
]Hi Brenda and Belle ,
Thanks againfor sharing.
Finally both orals are over, upcoming will be the two compos.
Very much like Brenda's school, we do not have any CAs.Thus weightage for sa2 is very heavy.
Do you know what is the weightage for both chinese and english oral?thank you.
The English and CL components are structured as follows:
EL
Oral - 30 marks
Listening - 20 marks
EL Paper 1 = 55 marks
EL Paper 2 - 95 marks
---------------------------------------------------
Total: 200 marks } 100 marks
CL
Oral - 50 marks
Listening - 20 marks
CL Paper 1 - 40 marks
CL Paper 2 - 90 marks
--------------------------------------------------
Total : 200 marks } 100 marks
Hope the above information useful.
Thank you
DD's sch also places the same weightage as Brenda's for Eng & MT oral... Is this the same for your DS's sch? I wonder it's the same weightage for PSLE? :scratchhead: Do you know, Brenda?? -

I hope MOE doesn't increase the weightage for MT oral in Sec sch. :nailbite: As it is, DD finds it stressful :slapshead:
Hi Leanne,
DD also hardly speaks chinese.. For MT oral prep, we used this PSLE oral book which shows model answers for typical questions asked in the conversation segment. DD finds it very useful. I don't have the book with me now as a friend has borrowed it so can't tell you the title. It's one of the latest PSLE oral book (green in colour). Maybe can check it our at Popular (for next year's prep).

Hi tansm2010 & Brenda,
Tks for the clarification. :celebrate: -
for some schools, there are still changes to classes and those who did well in P5 overall can go to the best/top classes, and SA2 exam makes up around 50% weighting of P5 work, so SA2 is indeed the exam that can make a difference to the class the student gets in P6.

Hi Brenda and Belle ,
Thanks for sharing.
Forgot to ask, how did you dd fair for last CA2 , was it a tough one?How many percent of it will be included in sa2?
Thanks.
Leanne
For my DD's sch, the weightage of exams are broken down as follows:
CA1 - 10%
SA2 - 20%
CA2 - 20%
SA2 - 50%
Total: 100%
I believe most schs place the most weightage on SA2. What about your DS's sch? -

Noted PSLE Oral test usually is in 3rd week of August.
Therefore, we still have almost 10 months to get prepare for it.
I always think that it is better to use Oral marks to cover CL compo. marks, how about your?

Hi James,
I can't agree more. Lots of revision to do next week during PSLE marking days. :!:
