I read somewhere that to get into CH2, they would require about 280/300 = 93.3% so the next two class will be from arund 270-280/300..

I thought it was higher than that.
All kids make careless mistakes .. so now it boils down to who make less.
Bingo! A test of tenacity, good checking skills and accuracy, not so much head-knowledge or what's tested in the syllabus.

For compo, you can try Busy Bee at Rail Mall.

They are in the midst of expanding, so next year enrollment should be able to accommodate more student - hopefully minus waitlist 😄

I actually tried to get her into busy bee this year but long waitlist so gave up.

Do you happen do know if their creative writing class includes compre too?

Thanks.

Do not think so. However, they do have a class on the general Chinese syllabus.
They are more reknown for their creative writing, which will indirectly help in the general Chinese syllabus.

Since CH3 has 3/4 and FA3 has 1/4 through, that makes about 45 pupils from top 2 classes. That's not far off from Nan Hua (50) which I am sure has provided special training for their pupils...

My exact thought. 😄

PHPPS used to be a GEP school many years back. Since the gifted stream was phased out, there were changes to management and possibly teacher turnover, so the training might not be as vigorous/intense as those studying in the GEP schools. However, I do know that for P4/5 kids who fell short of the GEP selection but had done well in the rounds would be given GEP-like programmes after curriculum time.

Do you know cut-off to get into CH2 last year?
I don't mean to scare you. I know the percentage diff is miniscule, 0.1%. There are 31 pupils in Charity 2 this year. Based on my broad computation, the last position should be at least 95% last year (not proven).

It is a competitive class. Besides the usual few who are rather secure at the top, you will still hear different names springing up during mock tests for doing well. Almost everyone has the potential (I said potential cos like you had said, making careless mistakes) to get full marks for their strong subjects, not just scoring above 95.

The kids in top ten position for P1 last year are different from the top ten for SA1 this year. Like what markfch has mentioned, the changes are great in the lower primary cos many who excelled later can easily take over those at the tops. It's anyone's game at the end of the day.

So 285/300 = 95% to get into CH2. Very competitive indeed.
So it would be like 295-300 --> top 10
290-300 --> top 20
285-300 ---> top 30

Poor kids .... Sigh ...

What is the top score last yr ... 300?

I am not surprised at the \"musical chair changes\" in top ten.
Marks are just too close.

In business .. people always say .. \"Chiam Tan\" every cents of profit counts.
Now in school .. it is \"Hun Tan\" every marks count .. :lol:

Nope. Nobody scored full marks last year. So the top ten was not 295 - 300. 293 was at the 8th position.

Hi E3/Trapwithin,

Fighting the SA2 fire is very stressful. I started revising with my son in August. Rest is equally impt, as well as drinking more fluids.

In Pei Hwa, the kids’ results between the 1st and 2nd are very very close…very competitive. I really pity the kids in the top class…having to fight to stay at the peak.

The standard changes yearly so don't use it as a guage. There's no hard and fast rule. I heard from a friend that her daughter's classmate decided to forgo her chance to be in Charity 2 last year and went to Faith 2 instead. The most important thing is just get your kids to work hard, try their best and everything will come into place naturally.
