      Hi parents,

My girl is in P2 and i'm looking around for materials to get her interested in science. Came across this magazine at the book fair recently.

Would this mag serves as a good intro to Science? First impression is that the lay out is like comic books and quite attractive, but contents were kind of short of my expectation... am i asking too much? Too KS???

Read another post on the Nat Geo Kids (or was it Nat Geo Explorer?)... is that a better or worse alternative? Another other suggestions?

      Any feedback would be appreciated.

      TIA

I started to subscribe Young Scientist when DS was in P1 and also collected fr colleague old copies of the magazine. He enjoyed them very much. He is P6 now. But not too sure if it will be same for girl. My DD is P1 now but she enjoys reading fairy tales and nvr see her touch this magazine. 😐

I got old copies from another parent in ksp. Thus far, DS1 has read them twice and enjoyed it thoroughly. I think it’s pretty good in engaging kids and giving them some some knowledge on science.

Yes, Young Scientist mags are indeed a fun read with children that age.

Colourfully illustrated and with somewhat a local flavour to it, so children
relate to it well if not better. πŸ˜‰ The mags also have good resale value
in the event you wanna sell it off after all your children are done with it. πŸ˜„

                  Hi

I've found an online bookshop based in Malaysia selling the Young Scientists at RM60 (S$26) for 10 issues including shipping. That is less than half the price in Singapore !! But you need to have a Malaysia address to receive the magazie as they only ship/post within Malaysia. Check out their website

My DS1 also loves to read the Young Scientist magazine. I didnt subcribed to the magazine though. Just bought a set from Popular last time and since then, he has been bugging me to buy new copies.
