Jennifer, thanks for sharing. Hopefully, the FT speak with the child/his parent after she has cooled down and investigate if anyone has \"framed\" the boy. Of course, it is not right for him to do what he has done even though he may be wronged. But you are right...some kids can't express themselve well in such situations.

In the end, the truth was revealed. BUT the FT did not apologise to the boy for the scolding she rained on him before finding out the truth. So the boy was \"Adults no need to say sorry ah?\"

Luckily only a mth more to go.

I hv decided not to send my boy to sch next Mon and the days after the last paper. Scared of the bad influences.

I was reading through the Si Wu Kuai Du material recommended by Tamarind in the other thread. I think the scaffolding is pretty good and believe my dd can still benefit from it.
Though this series do not have a direct impact on their HCL academic result but I hope it will stimulate the interest in reading CL books.

You might want to start that with your 4 yr old 😄

I'm also using 四五快读 for my ds after strong recommendation from Tamarind. The only issue I find with this series is that they are not in story form, more like pages after pages of individual words. So if a kid is reluctant to read chinese initially, it would not be surprising to see the kid resist 四五快读 more.

Thanks for sharing! Can you get this book in popular?

Wow...that is terrible! If the teacher has wronged him, she should apologise. Is the real culprit being punished?

I feel for you and your boy, Jennifer. It is not fair to keep him away from school, the culprit should be kept away instead. But, if school is not keeping the bad influences away, as a mother, I guess I will do the same.

I went through the CL compo books with my son last night...putting a post-it tab of 'possible scenarios'. Asked him if he still remembers those 默写 he learnt and replied me, 'bits here and there' 😢 . Whatever it is, just get the Paper I exam done and over with lah. Then this weekend will go full gear for Paper II.
One thing of my child, she is very fortunate to be blessed with great memories. She remembers most of her 默写 sentences and applications. Thankfully! I am so looking forward to weekends too.

Have a great weekends, everyone! A much deserved break for all exam kids and parents.

Thanks for sharing! Can you get this book in popular?[/quote]No it's not available in Popular. Lots of forummers go to the http://www.dangdang.com/ website to order. You need an AMEX visa card to order. It's really very cheap but need to wait a few weeks for the delivery.

There're a few shops in Bras Basah complex specializing in importing children's chinese books (including this one) from China but dangdang.com is way cheaper. I think Tamarind thru her blog singlehandedly influenced a generation of young chinese readers.

                IJJ/E3,

My son is going to P5 next year...have to do a situational AND picture compo for SA1/2. 😢 Really have to buck up his EL during this year end hols.

This weekend will probably be spent revising subjects after 1 week not doing so. I'll give him a break this afternoon.

Can you really do that ? Need to write in or inform the FT?

                    Hi Jennifer,

I would be keeping my boy at home in the 2nd week of Nov…he has an op scheduled for the 11th of next mth…keeping him at home will ensure that he (TOUCHWOOD) doesn’t fall or get a flu and have to postpone his op.

Honestly, I am very scared of bad influences around him too. He told me his classmate says the F word as well as some others who likes to tease/bully.

                      Hi all mummies,

If you are considering buying books (El or CL), can consider going to Bookfest@Singapore this Dec (10 till 19).
Usually, there are wide range of books, bring Ds/Dd to browse and perhaps thru' this, can arouse their interest in reading their \"own\" type of books.
For more information, can view at this website :
                      https://www.popular.com.sg/jsp/homepage/html/EN/promo/passbook2010.jsp

Talking about Bookfest, do remember to get stickers when you buy books at regular prices at Popular stores and redeem them at the Bookfest.
I got some stickers when I bought a table light for my son last week. Will need to get CL assessment books and handbooks (课文手册).
