Besides sport and uniformed groups, performaning Arts and Clubs and Scocieties also able to gain CCA point, more points will be given if you participate in competition (eg SYF) or performance, additionally if you are committee member more points will be given. DD is S4 this year, she joined choir in S1 and participate in SYF twice (gold award) committee member of choir, in S3 her total CCA points already exceeded to obtain a A1. Therefore my advice is choose the right CCA which you’re passionate and you will gain the extra 2 points thru CCA.

How about enrichment activities for your kids?


Activities such as dance, sports or art & crafts... Saw quite a few offers on such activities..

Can't remember offhand on the details but I posted something about this on KSP before. Maybe you could do a search on 'leaps'.

Basically, they need to accumulate points in different 'domains'.
L is leadership. So to get leadership points, they must be in committee or have high rank. Prefects, counsellors, class monitor also has leadership points.

I can't remember E but A is for achievements. So need to join competitions and get points by winning something. SYF, drill competition, etc will qualify.

P is participation. This is easy to get once you meet the minimum attendance.

Can't remember S.

Also, there's a minimum attendance for CCA. 75% to qualify for participation points. Anything less than 75%, they will take away whatever points accumulated in that year. Anything less than 50%, they will take away whatever points accumulated in your entire secondary school education.

CCA is serious business in secondary school. Skipping CCA without MC or valid reasons can result in truancy case handled by DM.

To get 2 bonus points, must get A grade. I really can't remember offhand. I try searching for the thread which I posted info on.

I’m not too sure about nationally, but at my previous and current school, around 80-90% will get their A for CCA.

It seriously depends on whether the school plans enough activities and opportunities for most of the kids to gain the points.

At my previous school, as long as you join CCA and participate actively, sure can get A. Even my sis who was not in CCA committee, not prefect, not class monitor also managed to get A1 for CCA.

DS’s tutor shared a list of Sec 1 English Assessment books with me. Below are some books recommended:


1) Longman Lower Secondary Situational Writing by Magdalene Teo
2) Longman Lower Secondary Summary Writing by Dr Carol Chan and Lim Guat Ha
3) Vocabulous English Exercise (Sec 1) by Global Publishers

DS’s tutor also helped me to choose other English, Math and Science Assessment books. Will let DS play and enjoy this break first before getting him started on the Assessment books.
