      Brenda10:
Hi, need help on the following school work:

      Synthesis/Transformation question:

Mr Lim said to me: \"No matter how unhappy you are, you will not get your way.\"

      The answer sheet gave:

      Mr Lim said ________________________________.

      DD answer:

Mr Lim said that no matter how unhappy I were, I would not get my way.

Please advise whether is her answer correct?

      Thank you.
      It should be

Mr Lim said that no matter how unhappy I was, I would not get my way.

      \"I were\" is used only in imaginary/hypothetical conditions such as \"If I were you..\"

      HTH.
