Each term for the committe member is 2 years. If volunteer for 2-3 years earlier, what if the P1 registration required is 3 years later? Will one still able to continue in the RC committe after the 1st term so that he can still be a GRL in the 2nd term?


For example, my child P1 registraton is Year 2013 Jun. I apply for RC now and if am lucky enough, get into the Executive Member to serve from 1 Apr 2011 - 31 Mar 2013. If you are active in your RC, the extension of term is normally done. I have been an EC for my committee for more than 3 terms already.

Mine is not a 2 yrs term. Mine start fm June 2010 to Aug 2011, they must hv been backdated mine. Not necessary the observer period is about 4-5 mths, my friend got her only about 2 yrs times, not too sure whether PR affect this.

And not to forget the 1 yr as an EM, observer not counted. Tat's why volunteer earlier if choose this route.

OIC... usually they will accept EM in mid term... cos' there will be inactive members.
Just curious why yours is till Aug... unless the different zones have different calender years? Cos' my committee new term starts from Feb.

Guess those inactive member will start to disappear after Jul/Aug when the P1 registration ends? So after 3-4 months, new EM can be accepted :idea:

I dun know too, tot they can confirm anytime. Maybe u r right, cos in Apr, I saw chariman distribute the appt letter to those confirmed. Haha. No wonder took so long to confirm me, as I've miss the Feb date.

But joining RC not bad too, I prefer this route rather than PV. And lucky I join this route 1st, cos PV can't get in too. Haha.

I dun tink I will disappear after Jul/Aug, keke, they help me leh.

Thought all committee will start on the offical 1 Apr? This is the date for new Financial Year for government bodies right?

Yes... April is PA's financial year.
But dunno why my RC's committee term is from Feb.
So there's actually an overlap.
Wonder if other areas have this practice as well... not very ISO standard

I just got my letter, and glad to see that they appt me before 30 June. Luckily told my chairman beforehand that the date is important to me, otherwise my appt date will be in Aug. Phew.

I think you better double-check with your ACM or whoever supporting your GRO since your date of appt is borderline. What I meant is that the system will open for registration around end May and close in mid-Jun. So when it opens next yr in May, your eligibility may not be reflected since not 1 year yet, hence you may not be able to apply online for your P2B letter. Just to be very sure.

Tot once u got the EM, u will be forever there, unless u resign. But of course u hv to be active in your zone, they shouldn't sack u. I've been in my zone since Jan10, and I can see those absentees (members) have not been attending for these 10 months.


U hv to check with other experts here who has a definite answer. BTW, my appointment did mention I'm fm tis date to tat date.

Usually auto reappointed unless really sleeping EM. We have removed Observer/EM who have not turn up for consecutive 3 or more months, or very inconsistent appearances.
