Anyone has kid that are p5 in 2010?

Hi Starlight,
I think you can get it from Popular…if can wait, then Book Fest in Dec.
Hi phanko,
I take everything my son tells me (regarding easy/hard exams) with a pinch of salt…bcos I only see the actual results. Next week will be marking week. Whatever will be will be…no point crying over split milk, that’s what I always tell him.
Still have CL tomorrow & Science on Fri. This education system in S’pore is killing the brain cells of parents prematurely. -

Does he like to read? If yes, you can ask him to start a small notebook where he can jot down say 5 new words and their meanings and synonyms each day. It helps and he can always refer to it. My DD did it for ch and eng in primary sch and it was helpful. Also, you may want to buy him a desktop calendar which has a new word for everyday. I have been buying it for my DD from Borders for the last 6 years. It is a great way to expand your vocabulary and also learn about the origins of the words. Hope it helps!Hi Joy,
Thanks for your input.
Son having Maths paper 2day, Eng yesterday.
I can't believe how stressful
school is. He told me the vocab section in his EL exam were tough...so I have kinda prepared myself mentally.
I try not to hold high hopes so that I won't be disappointed, but know that he will do his best. -
Hi Quinessential Mum,
He doesn't read much
The desktop calendar you mentioned is interesting. I'll definitely look out for it after SA2. Thank you for your tips. -

Thank you for sharing. This year P5 is required to attend 2 supplementary class (one day CL and one day EMS) and another day of remedial class if needed. They also have some short term workshop likes Maths investigation or Olympic maths on different day. From my experience, the school will give them so many extra supplementary classes and tonnes of trial papers that they would dread to do any more assessment books, and I know for my ds2, he'd baulk at any tuition homework, so begs me not to send him for any.
Already this year in p5, they had supplementary classes 2x/week plus some Saturdays. Can imagine next year. :!:
Heard next year will have addition workshop like CL compo. etc.
I think we have to charge enough battery during this holiday and get ready for next year. -
I started preparing myself for P4 at the end of Dec (2009) but still couldn’t gear up when school reopened. Diff schools have diff time-table but I can roughly expect the hard(er) times ahead in son’s school.
Need to charge extra battery for 2011…but after SA2, we mothers must destress and PLAY hard FIRST. -

Hi JoyLooks like primary six really has tons of works ahead.
For now, all the best to pri five children who are taking their sa2 exam.

Thank you.
Hopefully next year everything ok. -

Hi JanetI heard that P5 kids have to attend twice weekly supplementary lessons and it's very hectic...so I'm rather worried about the assessment books I bought for him...whether he has time to do
Come P6, it's even busier esp in the 2nd term. A neighbour's daughter just finished her PSLE...mother told me daughter goes to school from morning to evening Mon-Fri :!: Will tell CL tutor not to give him too much hw.
Hi Brenda,
Pls advise me on helpful titles for P5. Thanks
You're welcome. Is my pleasure to share with you once I sort out.
I wish your DS all the best in this SA2 exam and a smooth P5 next year.
Thank you. -
