what is nygh the third language?
-
fromnuaa,
According to the big book that MOE issued, Ghim Moh MOELC will be moving to Peck Hay Road in July 2011, which may be nearer to NYGH compared to Bishan.
Question is if one opts to do 3rd lang at Bishan MOELC, can later ask to transfer to Peck Hay Road MOELC when it starts operating? -
fromnuaa:
if my daughter is in NYGH and she choose Japanses as third language, can she select Bishan MOELS rather than Ghim Moh MOELS? Bishan is nearer to my home but NYGH is in west zone.
Schools are assigned specific MOELC centres. You'll have to check with NYGH if they'll allow her to go to the other centre. I doubt though. -

Yes, you can ask to be transferred to Bishan MOELC. I think distance from house is a valid reason. But not sure if they allow you to transfer back when the new center opens later next year. NYGH has a bus that brings the girls going to Bishan MOELC for 3rd language classes. German is only offered at Bishan MOELC, and not at Ghim Moh.fromnuaa:

Hi
Does anyone know if the 3rd language classes is free or need to pay extra? For malay 3rd language in NYGH, what is the frequency and duration of the lessons? Is it twice a week? TIA. -

Thanks jtoh. Then no harm letting DD1 take up a third language - hopefully can at least cope for 1st 2 years - learning Malay is quite useful especially ordering in hawker centres, communicating with local Malays, going to Malaysia, etc.
