I bought a kite some years ago but I can’t remember where. Maybe Toys R Us? It’s small, lightweight, collapsible and multi-coloured.

As for kite-flying, in the west, people tend to go to West Coast Park cos there is at least one open field there for kite-flying. Must watch out for radio-controlled aircraft though.

Theres a "new" open field area in the west. The old Tang Dynasty place has just been demolished and cleared up, it near to Jurong Country Club. Can go there now, its just off the aye , Corporation Road exit towards jurong direction. West Coast Park is pretty crowded and theres always some games going on during weekends in the open field.

As for kite, we make our own, the very simple diamond shape type with a very long colourful tail. Can get okie ones from ToysRUs, or just the cheap cheap $2 to $3 type from neighbourhood stores.

Remember to watch out for thunders and lightnings.

Ya, must check lightning alert for the day before going cos even when there is no rain, there may still be lightning. Make sure you check where you can take cover from BOTH lightning and rain in emergency. At West Coast, the Mc's is very close by.

Yah, MLR is right. Neighbourhood bookshops or novelty

shops will have kites, and in some neighbourhoods they
have quite a good variety to choose from... DAISO has
kites too, more to those Japanese paper kind, very light.
              But nice fish designs. πŸ˜‰

You're in Yishun right? I remember seeing a novelty shop
in Sembawang Shopping Centre that has it, 1st floor. That
              was before reno tho.. 😐

Okie, happy shopping! Dunno whether they will

like kite playing for long term hobby, buy a good
yet cheap one will do for now until the interest
increases with experience and also age. πŸ˜‰

I bought a nice $6 one, in the shape of a butterfly
or was it bird... can't remember. It was left in the
store for 2 years collecting dust.

                  Eventually, reng-diao-ta lor..

We used to go West Coast Park to fly kite, but it's crowded on weekends. But now, we go marina barrage! nice scenery, good wind...

We will be back there again, after the SA1 this week ! phew !

If you are not particular abt the design (i ever saw barbie doll kite haha) or brand, a good place to get kites is from SKP. Believe it or not, their kites are cheap and good, most importantly, they can \"catch wind\" easily. πŸ˜„

tantrums if he gets the barbie kite! πŸ˜‰
Where's the nearest DAISO to your place
                        up North, smurf?
