Depends on what subjects & individual’s learning cabability.

For creative writing, better to go for class. For Maths, if child is weak or slow, home tuition is better.

For Chinese, better to go for class as it encompasses oral practise. Centre also provides structured assessments comparable to sch standards, if not higher.

In that case shall we select a centre that is specialize in one thing like either Language, Maths or Science?Eg Chinese Lang Centre teaching Chinese, English like L Central or Maths like Kumon rather than those centre which teach almost everything?

I would go for indiviudal center specialised in one area rather than all under one roof. Same reason as cited, they are supposed to be 'good' in their niche

I would say the important criteria to look at is learner’s learning style in order to be effective.

Yes, I agreed with ksi. Like for my ds, he can't do individual tuition with tutor. Also i will end up wasting my $$ cos he will be chatting with tutor then. He prefers group.

If u consider a tuition ctr, u must also think of their class size. For me it depends on the subject. My ds has home tuition for maths. Suits him juz fine. He is much able to understand maths now. Actually, his grades improved. For English, he goes for group. Ds used to attend Chinese too. That is also in group. All in groups of max 10 kids. Ds goes to different ctrs for different lessons.

My ds home tutor is strict with him. No nonsense type. In fact ds scared of her. She will ask ds to erase off all work, if he does 1 question wrong.

It depends on your child’s level of competence. If he is weak and needs more attention, there is no point putting in a group as that is basically lacking in attention just like school class style. If child is average or above n just needs that extra push then group is workable.
