A friend told me to let son continue with HCL if his results allow. From what I observe, if he continues with it, my worry is it will affect his overall results. He is an average student and being a boy and very playful, I'm very concerned with his results this year.

At a loss now, but will see how it goes. What is your opinion ?

      Hi Janet

I suggest you check with the shcool.

For dd school, once you committed you have to stay one year and not half way withdrawl.

From what neighbour told me, if the parents insist the child take HCL even though results are not good enough, child has to drop it if his CA1 result doesn't reach the expectations.
Actually, end of P4, school will recommend to / not to take HCL. It is parent's choice to take / not to take HCL. Eg. even if school does not recommend, parent can insist child to take HCL and school has to grant that.

By end of P5 for HCL kids, based on student's results, school will decide if kid will continue with HCL or not. By then, parent has no say if school insist kid drop HCL if they don't make the mark. Similarly, parent cannot withdraw if kid's result make the mark and school insist kid to be in HCL. However, having said that, most school will not insist if parents are very adamant to withdraw, though they will try their best to persuade if kid can make it.

        Any travelling ?

        Leanne

He is going somewhere overseas without us! šŸ˜‰ He's super happy about it i guess. He's got a very busy schedule with loads of hard work until mid-Dec (hopefully), but it's non-academic.

            Hi Quinessential Mum,

            He doesn't read much 😢
The desktop calendar you mentioned is interesting. I'll definitely look out for it after SA2. Thank you for your tips.
I get mine from Borders. If you want to get 50% off buy it on Jan 2 2011.

Mummies of p5 kids taking hmt,

Yesterday was revising hmt with ds.He kind of tired and loose steam and tell me this;HMT also not counted, study so hard for what, also no use.In return I told him, it doesnt matter calculate into your T score or not, bottom line , u must expose yourself to it, and that will help you in the secondary school life and in the long run.

I know many students scored A star for chinese in psle, but when come to secondary, they are struggling, unless those are really having a flair for the language.Just one cent of my thought.

Do u face similar situation with your child?

                    Hi Leanne,

That is exactly what my kid said too as he is having his HMT today. He was asking me if he can failed that subject since it is not counted. I told him the same thing what you did. But still I have to remind him daily.

                        Hi bellerina

Glad to hear that test are okie and your dd is strong in Maths as this is one of the subject that most of us č°ˆč™Žč‰²å˜ć€‚

We would decide the next cause of action after her SA2 result.

However, most properly will still focus on Maths, EL Compo. and Comphre, CL Oral and Compo. as well as improving on answering of science questions.

                        Just my 2 cents thought
