Travel: Taiwan - Taipei

Wonder what time does the night mkt start operating? Does the stalls start selling from 3pm onwards just like our pasar malam here or do we need to be there only after 6pm… Can anyone advise?

Could not find any reviews on the place though... has anyone been there and is it worth the $$? Any other places worth visiting in Taiwan?

I was planning to stay @ LeoFoo Resort @ Guanshi for 1 nite during our coming trip in Nov, but gave up the idea instead. Cos' the price is too EX! Abu NT19,000 for 1 nite But looks interesting tho'. Not much reviews cos' they are quite new. Check out this blog for the breakfast there http://blog.yam.com/yado/article/27302107. The resort is on Facebook too. Try to do a search using their chinese name. You can find lots of reviews on it.

Hi starlight1968sg,

We did this last year.

Took a speed train from Taipei to Hualien. Arrange for pickup in Hualien by a nice taxi driver to bring us to Taroko Gorge. We did a one day tour then back to Taipei the same day.

Absolutely doable even with our then 3 and 5 yo. Very nice scenery!!

BTW, got all my tips from Tripadvisor.

We didn't do any theme parks...

Hi Googlymama, my family had been to Taipei twice (2007 & 2009), free n easy trips. You may PM me your email address, I can share my Facebook albums with you. You will be able to read the photos captions & have a better ideas of the places of interests worth visiting. Overall, my daughters of 8 & 10 love Taipei City. We visited Leofoo Village too.

Anybody been to Window on China Themepark, Wulai Aboriginal Village, Leofoo Village theme Park or Farmosa FunCoast (Water Theme Park)?


I have time to go only one of these parks.

Any recommendations or comments on these parks?

Went to Wulai but not sure if its the aboriginal village. The old streets were quaint and had a lot of xiaochi. Unfortunately it was raining and we ran out of time too - no thanks to having to watch a touristy theatre performance called the Gaga show. It's supposedly an expensive show but i think u can give it a miss if u r on yr own. Only some parts of the show was good towards the end and the best part at the end was when they open the curtains at the back of the stage and revealed a wonderful view of the wulai waterfalls.

Anyway we were doing an 8-day package tour under ASA and i certainly wont recommend this tour to anyone.
