      Hi Brenda,

It's really wonderful and helpful to read all the comments here...true honest opinions from mothers.
      :lovesite:

I've heard several comments regarding the heavy AND difficult workload at P5. My friend's son is in P5 and he told me not to let my boy take HCL bcos it's really very tough and there is so much 笔记 to copy that the teacher doesn't allow them to go to the loo. :!: :!:
      Janet,
if your child intends to take HCL in secondary school, better start him/her on HCL in primary school,
so as to build a stronger foundation.
HCL is not really very tough lah when in primary school,
as most of pupils still able to get at least 1 point, and 2 points is not uncommon too......
but prepared to spend more time....... 😉

        Best Regards,
        Brenda[/quote]Hi Brenda,
Wow! You're planning to start clearing your P5 stuff already? You are truly one efficient & organized mama. I think I'll put my legs up and have some 'me' time first. Wouldn't mind a glass of red wine too.. :celebrate:

Good luck to your DD with her exams.

            Hi Janet,
To take or not to take HTML - it's a million $$ question... 😄
It really depends on the child, his/her interest & ability in the Chinese language and how he/she is coping with his/her workload in P4. JMHO

Just want to share with you my DD's classmate's experience. She was selected for HMTL and was coping well in Term 1 but she had problems coping with her workload in Term 2 and her maths results dropped drastically. In the end, her mother had to write a letter to appeal for her withdrawal from HTML at the end of Term 2.

Good luck with your decision. 😉

              Hi Tinkerbelle,

It’s indeed a million dollar question…my personal feel is if HCL helps him 作文, then I’ll let him continue with it next year. But if it’s going to affect his other subjects which are equally crucial, then I’ll let him drop it. With all subjects getting tougher, no point making things even harder.
              Thank you for your advice.

                  Hi Janet,

I think for chinese compo, hmt and normal chinese are quite different.HMT required more depth in writing whereas normal chinese just based on pic or a ming ti.

I would say hmt may help more so in the main paper and also the future journey in the secondary school.

                  Hope this helps.

                  Leanne
