Another question, it was stated in the letter that we will need to bring in the BCG card, vaccination cert, immunization cert and health booklet. I only have the one cert which lists all the immunization and vaccination. Is that the one? or are there some other certs which i have to obtain from the PD?

Yup, that’s it. Just bring whatever document you have that shows that the jabs were taken. Like for those who remember to bring the health booklet along everytime your kid goes for a jab, then the doc would’ve filled up everything in the health booklet.

another question..hehe..you mentioned CCA is optional in P1 and is conducted by external vendors...does that mean we have to pay to join? if pay...do you know the estimate cost. feel quite strange cause thought CCA will be conducted by school and FOC..hehe.

can i just ask do you know does SJI offers catechism class if DS is Catholic? I don't know whether I remember correctly but one of my friend's DD is in IJ and they have catechism class conducted in school.

Most CCAs are conducted by the school and costs (if any) are generally borne by the school. As CCA is only compulsory from P3 onwards, if a child takes it up at his own option at P1/P2, the cost has to be personally borne. I believe this is also the norm in other schools. I can't quite recall the cost but I don't remember it being very costly, definitely much cheaper than taking up that activity at an external enrichment centre.

Yes catechism classes are conducted in school once a week for Catholic pupils.

Just to add something about CCA. Received letter from the school on 8 Oct that from P3 onwards where CCA is compulsory, CCA is subsidised where possible but to defray cost from next year onwards, they are collecting a one time payment from each pupil and cost ranges from $50-100 depending on which CCA he gets into. Also Scouts is not on Tuesdays within school curriculum but on Fridays.

it is still cheaper to go popular to buy the text and workbooks, in addition you get to choose the books so you will not get those with dog ears

but popular book shop does not have the English books needed in school except Stelluar Handwriting 1, therefore I will need to get the rest from school.

any mummies will be going alone to the orientationt this sat with DS only? DH can't go due to work committment

Hi! I was at SJI Junior Orientation last Sat. I would like to check with parents if it is common for the P1 boy’s to reach school at 12noon daily though lessons start at 1pm. The bus driver mentioned that my DS will be the last boy to be picked up and that will be at 11.30am. The boys will arrive in school by 12noon. Isn’t that a tad too early? What will they do the next one hour?

Hi, some school buses arrived after 12pm eg, when my son was taking school bus last yr, he arrived at around 12.25pm. However, I also noticed that some buses arrived as early as 12pm. The kids will just hang around at the canteen and play with their friends. Some may go up to the hall, I think. You may wish to find out from the bus coordinator whether another bus passed by your place and the bus starts later and arrived later…When my son took school bus last yr, I managed to find a school bus that is smaller and could pick him later , although the route is covered by another bigger bus cos that bigger bus took longer to reach school and my kid got to be at the pick up pt at 11.20am and reached home almost 8pm!
