For my dd, she did not get to meet the FT during orientation. I am not sure whether it's just her class. She met her on the first day of school.
I actually took leave on the 19 /Nov to come for the Orientationdavid1234:

Please advise if orientation is impt to attend?

In PH, they do not practise letting the kids do any tests or SRT. It's just touring the school and familiarising with the school environment. Parents will be listening to talks at the Hall.
The orientation should be in the afternoon, if my memory didn't fail me, it will start at 1pm. You might wish to take your son out from his camp early.
Mine attended two years ago, so there could be changes since then. Maybe the P1 parents can share.[/quote]Last year, it started at 11.30am.... -

Wow, so early. Very close to end of Prize-giving/ Thanksgiving ceremony then. It sure will be pretty crowded in school. -
tks markfch and php.
i tried calling Care Junction, but cant get through the line.
Since vacancies are limited, i will find student care near my plc then.
many tks for the advise.

php:
Yes, you can try the Care Junction (about $200 per month). My son was there for P1 and P2. I pulled him out this year because they close whenever the school is closed which to me is the only downside of it. For example, during school closure days like PSLE marking days etc, working parents will have to take leave. but they are open during school holidays and will bring pupils out for excursions as well and have other holiday activities like canvas painting, flower arrangement etc.
yes, is called Care Junction.jollyjas:
anyone can advise if there is student care in PH?
Is it good?
i m in dilemma where to put my DS when he go PI next yr.
His current child care centre does not have b4 school care
good or bad ? i m not too sure.
there is limited places and is quite difficult to get one...if you really in need, call them fast. Tel No : 6469 5758
I feel deeply indebted to Care Junction especially during P1 because naturally I was very concerned for my child being his first time in school. With Care Junction, the caretakers there teach them how to buy their own lunch, bring them to the assembly hall when school starts, teach them about the bible, have singspiration, homework supervision etc all within the school compound. I did not have to worry about my child going to school from any other before school care centres, or him crossing the road etc.
but the school closures are just too troublesome so now I use a before and after school care centre which also takes care of children quite well. I arrange for the PH school bus to fetch my sons. -

Hi E3,
Hi comfy,comfy:
She has also many favourite chinese story books.
Do you mind sharing some titles of Chinese Stories that your dd reads? Mine borrows CL books from NLB, usually from the same authors (to play safe) like 阳光姐姐 - 伍美珍 and 杨红樱.
Finally, I asked dd to help me type all the chinese titles. Below are some of her favourite :
查理和罗拉 series (我绝对绝对不吃番茄)
趣味翻翻书系列(小猫眯眯在哪里)
Disney's
嗯嗯太郎 (buy from sch very interesting about animal motion)
Hope that your dd will find them interesting. -
:thankyou: comfy. Thank your dd too for typing out the titles!
Is the first one Charlie and Lola series? The English series are very cute and funny. -
E3:
Yes, infact, I came to know this series first thru the chinese series. It is recommended by her chinese enrichment centre. They use such books (including the elephant series) to teach the lessons. Most of the stories are very lively and interesting. Later I am surprised to find there is an english version of it (from the library).:thankyou: comfy. Thank your dd too for typing out the titles!

My dd is currently trying out these books
Very intersting and funny story. Initially it looks simple but after reading discovered that the language and topics mentioned is not that simple
This one is very suitable for girls. They have baking recipe in it as well.
I bought them from http://www.sgshinekids.com/index.html and collect them personally. If you guys have friends traveling to China, it might be worthwhile askign them for help, the price is really cheap there.
For Christian parents, there is also a Chinese Bible Activity books in Chinese -
SA2 results are slowly being released by the teachers. Hope my son does well for his SA2 to pull his overall results up a little.
