My boys' teachers already interviewed every single one of them at the beginning of this school year, asking them their plans and which secondary school they want to go to, and worked with them personally on setting goals.
Wow, your Boys got very caring and Forward planning teachers!
So far, My Gal's teacher not mentioned about sec school at All. From what I gather from her Seniors' Mummies, we have to do the thinking / Planning ourselves. Even Letter of Recommendation, if we need, say for DSA, got to specifically request from them ....

SA2 is over! :celebrate: Dd did fine for EL & Maths.

Heard fm dd the top 80 students will be seperate into 2 best classes e.g. 1st, 3rd,5th, ... go to A class & 2nd, 4th, 6th, ... go to B class.

Dd's TR did talk to them abt the choices of their sec sch. Dd is still blur blur one. lol

Yes, last paper and all results will be out today except science .How exciting..lol...last paper and yet has to face the results today...no emotion break....

How are you mum spending a day after ds/dd exam?
Hi Leanne,
How was your Ds's science paper yesterday? Hope he found the MCQ acceptable. Finally, you can :celebrate:. What are you planning to do? I went for retail therapy immediately after DD's exams to reward myself for the hard work..keke

Hello Tinkerbelle,

Yes, I actually also wish that DS 's school has no yearly streaming.Unfortunately,it will continue up to Pri six.

Competition aside, the hard found friendship that build over a year, always subject to changes in class. So, yearly, renewd friendship , that is what I see when there is streaming yearly.
Have a pleasant week. :celebrate:

Leanne
DD's biggest concern is....not being with her friends next year. 😢 I told her she can always make new friends. Don't want her to be in her comfort zone and not know how to adapt, just in case she's not in the same class. 😉
Heard from a friend that some schools don't stream end of P5 so students remain in the same class for P5 & P6. How I wish my DD's school won't stream end of P5. 😉

No Such Luck for my DD.
In fact, I believe the school advised the students who cannot achieve the 75 Precentile grade to drop the subject in P6 .... On one hand it's competitive, on the other, .... to ensure GOOD Results in PSLE ?????

However, My Gal does not stressed herself over much on this subject, just try to finish the Homework assigned, and Did not DO anything more on it ....
In fact, the day before her HCL and CL exam is the most RELAX for her .... She told me, \"Nothing to revised-lah ..... Just go in to do exam can already ....\"

I share the same sentiment. After the maths test today CL P2 for tomorrow will be much more relax as compare with other subjects.
Hi Funx3 and Brenda,
My DD also tends to relax more with CL exam preparation. She usually spends the least amount of time on CL. 😐

Actually, SA2 exam schedule worked out nicely....after Maths paper, DD took a break and did last minute revision for science, her weakest subject. Yes, one can always pray for a miracle for science... 😉

Hi Tinkerbelle,

I asked my son which sec school he wants to go to...his answer ? :x
'Ask me next year. I don't know'. I asked him, 'dont you have any plans?'

My son's school shuffles the kids EVERY year according to their grades since P2. I won't let him continue with HCL next year...but I'll ask him first. He is content just finishing his homework everyday.
Hi Janet,

:rotflmao: Good answer from your boy. Ya, forgot he's only in P4 so probably haven't thought much about sec sch. I'm sure he'll tell you his plans soon

They do have an affiliated secondary school though. My boy wants to go on to their affiliated school. Good too that they are now an MEP centre as well.
Hi phankao,
Wow!! Your DS's teachers are really efficient and pro-active, considering the sch has an affiliated sec sch. Fantastic job.....at least the boys will have goals to work towards. 😄

Hi Bellerina,

Congratulations to your DD for doing well in EL and Maths. :rahrah:

Your DD's sch has an interesting and unique way of streaming the top students. My DD's sch allocates the top 40 students into the best class and the next 40 into the 2nd best class.

Just out of curiosity, any parents here know of any other different ways schs stream their top students??

Well, it really depends on the teachers, I think. Maybe these 2 teachers (there's a form teacher and a co-form teacher) are very enthusiastic. Both men. Have pros & cons to having a male teacher. Unthinking at times, but I think they handle the boys fairly well. haha!

My elder boy's teachers were not that way. And yes, I doubt the teachers would do Testimonials unless you request. Last year, we got the elder one's testimonial from his CCA teacher, not from his form teacher. And no, they are not briefed on DSA.

Hi Mummies,

Glad to know your kids finished your exam…and some kids have done well. So your kids will be going to P6 next year…understand P5 is a drilling year, so P6 is the REAL thing.

Perhaps CL is unlike Maths that has to do more practice in order to remember all those methods/models.

Finally left one paper science tomorrow, however her form teacher still very on. Heard from dd she went through with them yesterday and some more gave some worksheets to practice. Today she will also go through with them again after the CL exam.

Wish your dd all the best in her science exam.

Hi Brenda,
Thanks for your well wishes. DD needs lots of it. 🙏
Not long to go for your DD......counting down to the last paper. Ya, DD's science teacher also very on...went through some very last minute revision with them but unfortunately, DD said questions didn't come out in exam. 😢
Haha....she thought her teacher was giving the class clues. I told her in the real world of PSLE, there'll be no clues. 😉

Good luck to your DD in her science exam tomorrow. After that, you can party. :celebrate:
