CHIJ Toa Payoh Secondary

HI PSLEmom,
I read several good reviews about CHIJ Primary, but negative ones on the Sec...it has really made me worried about this affiliation issue. All this while, I bypassed Phase 1 and moved to CHIJ TP bcos of the affiliation to the secondary school, only to realize how terribly it is managed

I know friends daughter was top student in CHIJ Toa Payoh Sec school , but she appeared from ACS IP extrace exam during SEC4 .. cleared it & now done IP with score of 34 out of 35. She too had not so good opinion @ her experience at Sec school & took steps to go ACS IB rather than wait for O level result & JC posting exerciseHI PSLEmom,

Hi DadOfGirl,
Registering my daughter in CHIJ TP primary with the idea of affiliated sec school seems to be a mistake afterall…based on the undesirable feedback I have read.
Anyway, I’ll see how it goes along the way…if I can transfer daughter to another all girls’ school nearer home, I might do so. My daughter actually wants to attend MGS (several friends of hers are attending P1 there next year). -

MGS is very good school... but no affliation. only best 2 class- 60 students make it to 'Girls only' sec school With CHIJ you have secure place for \"Fairly good- Girls only; seconday school.Hi DadOfGirl,

I'm getting my daughter to read the storybooks she brings back from kindy. Is that sufficient enough or need to read others pls ? So scary...one going to P1 next yr and the other going P5. Going :siao: very soon.
It would be best to read as widely as possible. What kind of books does she read? The Reader level books or picture books or roald dahl? It is a pity that i just got to know you as i have given away loads of story/reference books over the years. I could have passed it to you instead.
The english standard at IJ TP is quite high! Does your DD like to read? What kind of books does she read?Quintessential Mum:
Hi Quinessential Mum,
My hubby is reluctant to transfer daughter to another school, since the principal of IJ primary is good. This IP program is something I need to read up on.
A parent from IJ TP primary mentioned something about a 100 word list which will be distributed during P1 orientation. There was also something about creative writing which is challenging at P2. Loads of info for lower primary, but gives me a headstart what to expect. -

Well, if you read some of the earlier comments, you can get an idea. To be fair, there are those who will have glowing reports cards and there are those who will issue dismal report cards on the school/staff. It all depends on your DD character/aspirations/PSLE score etc. Btw, i believe that the \"guides\" were school councillors (prefects)Hi Frenz,
I happened to visit CHIJ Toa Payoh for their OPEN House on 30th Oct along with a group of frenz. Only came to read about all your comments in the KP Forum today about the school. Frankly speaking we were not at all impressed with the school but the only relief was that it was a \"Girls Only\" school and next to the MRT. The senior schools did not even bother to wear their uniform properly and all with dirty school shoes including the \"guides\" who made us climb up and down all the 6 floors of the school building!!!! Their Choir and Band were great as they had short performances for the visitors.
As for the teachers and their coaching, would like to hear from you all.
Are there any parents of current CHIJ (TP) students who can share their views?

Hi Quintessential Mum,
Thanks. I will get her to read more books this holiday…maybe Amelia Jane. -

Try Roald Dahl books - very entertaining and descriptive. :lol:Hi Quintessential Mum,
