This scars me even more, because my boy is well known for commenting that the papers are easy, but when we receive the results, we would :faint: almost instantly.

My DD1 likes to give me similar scares. :roll:
When she came back to say Maths was easy-peasy..
I gulped and told her, \"Yikes girl! You're freaking me out!\"

So the next few papers i held up my hand and said, \"Puhleez..
I do not want to know, thank you... I'd rather just wait for the
results.... when it comes.\" Worse is, when she says it is easy,
she cannot even remember the questions she did. Unlike for
DD2, can report back the difficult questions word for word, wor..
That one is different blain... got memory magic inside wan. :lol:

That's why I have have developed this habit of NOT asking him whether the paper is difficult, in case his reply raises my expectation.

Anyway, it doesn't make any difference to me whether the paper is easy or difficult. Doesn't change the outcome. In fact, I would prefer if the paper were truly difficult.

hmm.. i thought they have alot of 'tests' and assessments throughout the year even when there is no exam?

Yes! Yes! Topical assessments and/or formative assessments... errr...
whichever the school adopts lah harr... are a sure thing, just to ensure
they keep up and understand of what is being taught. Mine still had the
usual 10-words-a-week-spelling as well.. words were taken from the big
books from their Stellar programme., plus the occasional dictation tests too.

Topical assessments are easier to ace cos it's topic by topic mah... one by
one. No excuse not to ace in fact. :lol: Keeps parents on the toes as well.

It's the sit-down-and-finish-the-questions-in-1.5hrs set-up that children
need exposure to cos most at this so called honey-mooning phase tend
to take their own sweet time with a lot of things... or mebbe... everything. :roll:

They feel no pressure.. relak nia.. the world is my oyster kinda mentality
ya know... like i have all the time in the world. Plus their big handwriting,
wah lao, really take time to complete work boi..

You SAHM? Cannot imagine it... tsk tsk... i had a hard time settling down
from being high-flyer to no-flyer ya noe... but the time and effort put in
for IQ... EQ... BBQ... and also all those other Q's known to the S'porean
mentality of requirements, i believe i am reaping the fruits of them now.

It's the kind of satisfaction that being a high-flyer doesn't give.
The bond is priceless.

I could imagine alot of adjustments especially the stress on hubs since his line is super sensitive to the economy (BTW, that's the main reason why he objects)... also in the freedom to use $$ on food and the gals' and family holiday...

But it is precisely the fruits that are so deliciously tempting.. being a FTWM, i feel that there is so much to do but so little time.. and so little control..

Of course, I can't be absolutely confident that i could do as good a job as what you have achieved
