[quote=\"Trapwithin\"]Believe you will be one of those proud parents. You have taken a lot of effort to prepare your ds. Parent's monitoring is critical, which I believe yo uare more than prep to do. πŸ˜„

walau don't stress me liddat leh, are you trying to 'trap' me from within :rotflmao:

Same for the P2 CL pp2. The Open-ended compre was not easy. Passage was relatively easy to understand but the questions asked were not so straightforward. No full marks in her class. My dd had been doing P3 compre open-ended, those that require own opinions kind of questions assessment book instead of P2 ones. If she had not done so, I couldn't imagine what kind of marks would she had attained.
        .
Does that mean you will be letting her do P4 compre O&E next yr :!:
I was just thinking of asking her to finish doing P3 compre O &E assessment book. Perhaps jump to P5 one and give her a shock, he!he!
        Do you teach her yourself?

          Hi Trapwithin/markfch,

Whether he gets a trophy or not...that is not impt...Most impt is the belief in working real hard and being rewarded with good results...then he is able to answer to himself. As a mum, I can plan the most fantastic time-table for him, but if he doesn't want to work hard, what's the point ?
Agreed. My Motto is to \"Try his/her Best\" and not score 100 or get trophy.
Hee hee but if prep well .. for lower Primary ... their best should be around 100 :rotflmao:

My son agrees to have CL tuition and English enrichment lesson (both are conducted once a week)...no more than that. His personal tutor has agreed bcos can't afford anymore than that either.

Buying assessment books is a learning experience. I 'drop more hair' at Popular than anywhere else. Any left over will be given to son's younger cousin.

My daughter is going to P1 IJ next year...just wondering what the school expectation/standard is. Another round of learning experience again. Parents don't have it easy now 😒 😒

The award is a confirmation that your ds has the brain power to excel when he's motivated. You've already mentioned it here. But have you told (& retold) your ds how proud his parents were on that prize giving day?

I think most kids will want their parents to be proud of them. At least this is true for me & and my ds as well.

Agree! My dd was beaming ear to ear when she went up on stage the last 2 yrs. But she knew this year she wont be able to go onstage again. However, I encouraged her & reminded her its most impt to have tried her best & we are v proud of her as long as she had worked hard. Its such a long journey of learning for them, so I'm more concerned of teaching them self-studying skill then spoonfeeding them. But I am stil a culprit of spoonfeeding and drilling, which is quite stressful for our relationships some times.

Yes, agree 100%. Bcos at lower primary, the child needs to be drilled harder or else results will tumble and more shocking as he/she moves to P2 onwards.

My is \"Don't need perfect score but near perfect\" (ps at least above 90 and above). πŸ˜„
Told her to try her best, got low score, I accept, she got upset. What to do, have to help/encourage her in her study.
