His parents were and still are very proud of him. As a matter of fact, both parents wanted to go up the stage but only one is allowed...so daddy said mummy accompany him :imcool: I am guilty of spoonfeeding and drilling too. :P[/quote]
The year before last, only one parent was allowed, so hub asked dd who shd go up with her and she said \"This year lets have mummy going up as she worked hard with me. Next year, it will be daddy's turn.\".
Last year, we saw quite a number of parents going up, and even families. So we went up 2gther with our younger one as well! And my younger one was the one with the widest smile, as if she was the one who won the award
My objective, since last year, was to teach my dd self studying skills which requiresalot of self discipline. However, I am always ever so tempted to going back to drilling as that produces more instant results. But as we know, instant noodles tastes nice but does not provide enough nutrients, so I really have to control myself at times. But I try to balance between drilling and allowing her to study at her pace. I think my P4 dd is showing a little more self discipline now. I shall wait for her results to see how she did this SA2. -
My dear son just passed for his CL Paper 2. Just as I expected, his 2 sections (comprehension open ended and duan wen tian kong) pulled him down. Will really have to see how to help him improve this holidays.

Janet,
Is yr ds ok with strict tuition teachers? There is a tuition centre based in Beauty World but students hv to attend lessons twice a week and they are very strict with doing homework. -

I teach her mostly. Actually, she was using a P4 compo practise book. I felt it's closer to her class's standard. She has half mark deducted for CL pp1.
Does that mean you will be letting her do P4 compre O&E next yr :!:
I was just thinking of asking her to finish doing P3 compre O &E assessment book. Perhaps jump to P5 one and give her a shock, he!he!
Do you teach her yourself?

Young kids need to \"breathe\" and have space to do better. Discuss with your son's tutor the situation for P5 in PH and hope she understands. Quality work is more important than quantity. -

We decided to accede to her request. Her SA1 result was Band 1. Once she stopped her CN tuition, we expected her results to dip. It did, she missed Band 1, attaining 84. I am waiting for her SA2 results to see how she fairs. If its lower than 80+, we will try to persuade her to go back for tuition. She currently has Math tuition and ballet, which takes away quite alot of her time already... sigh... but I can't really teach CN that well ...periwinklejoy:

Hi E3/Periwinklejoy,
I'm really at a loss...don't want son to lose sanity with heavier workload next year P5 but yet don't want to lose tutor as well....cannot teach him compo bcos that is a skill I don't have
Don't expect him to score Band 1 for Chinese but not 'just-pass'. -

My Gal Not So Lucky with their HCL P1 ....
For the Ming Ti Compo that she selected, apparently most of her classmates in the same banding class chosen this as well (the other Question is so Boring, No Challenge .... )
ALL except \"ONE\" kid in their class has written :offtopic:
Wonder How they Grade ?
Heard they Straightaway \"AWARD\" Max 8 / 40 Marks, No Need to Mark the Paper at ALL ....
So Teacher warned them Many of them FAIL the paper .... :nosebleed: -
I guess it’s just as well he cannot continue with HCL at P5…with much heavier workload, he will suffer more. From what I understand, normal Chinese isn’t easy either. Now will need to discuss with tutor how best to help him.
