The mother would have bonded given the 9 months pregnancy, but the father would have problems accepting, even though it's his wife's eggs...but not his sperm. As the child grows and looks different from him, it's going to be hard, esp when the child asks why he/she looks different from the father.read in ST today that the mother has bonded with the baby. but the article is silent on the caucasian 'father's' reaction.
really poor thing. -
Luanee:
Ya, last time they did not test blood group for babies. My kids dunno their blood group.
Hah? KKH has such a practice? No give blood group for babies? I thot it should be a SOP for all hospitals now..Daddy

I think if there's no distinct colour difference... I still can live with it.
And kid should look similar as either parents... if not... 2 late to sue by then?
KKH didn't give blood group for my kid... and I still dunno... think KKH should review this practice then.
Wonder who's for the idea of donor sperm/surrogate mother? I think it's less common in Asia countries... I wouldn't.
Now i think they test it routinely.janet_lee88:
Agree with you.

That's why i said in my previous post that it may have been different if the wrong egg instead of sperm. Imagine the anguish the father is going through...... -

How come this sounded like the Channel 8 weekday 9pm show? -

Ya, man..... quite similar and yet not.janet_lee88:

In the show, the parties are willing and aware of the consequences.
Yet the father could not accept the wife's child although the child saved the life of their son. -
I didn’t watch the Channel 8 show…so don’t know what it’s all about.
Either way, one of the parties won’t be able to accept the child. Wrong sperm, the father cannot accept raising another’s man’s child. Wrong eggs, the mother may reject too…mother’s love is crucial. -

An unfaithful wife(if I am not wrong, the wife in Channel 8 drama is romantically linked to the other guy right? I caught a scene where the EM-man asked her to return to his side or did I interpret wrongly since I don't watch the show? :? )
or
A clinical error?
Sometimes our human emotions are misplaced.
I am almost certain to say the Caucasian husband would not feel too bad as this is clearly a clinical error. Even if he desires his flesh and blood, he can see that this is no fault of his wife nor the child. So love the wife, love the child who still carries genes of wife.
Sorry to say this, if we are talking about a traditional Asian father here, there may be more issues, but I find if modern Asian fathers are already liberalised in their thinking, what more about Caucasian dad? Yes I am generalising here and if he is badly affected, he is certainly an exception.
Also, through my circle of Caucasian friends and Angeline Joie, when I see them adopting kids, they typically adopt non-Caucasian kids. In fact many of their kids are Asians or Africans kids, totally unlike them and they don't mind. On the other hand, Asians' adoption are hush-hush and must look exactly like themselves. So perhaps our yardstick to measure his anguish could be culturally wrong? -
I think and guess the Caucasian dad may be more willing to accept given their more liberalised mentality…but if Asian man, rather difficult to accept the child even if his wife has bonded and want to keep.

now the questions are :
1. how many more not born yet may have been mixed up ?
2. how many in the last 20 years have been mixed up unknowingly as both sperms and eggs are of the same racial origin thus not visually any different ? re-do all DNA test for each and every test tube baby since ?
3. MOH would not suka suka suspend them unless it is seriously flawed in the control procedures … too many foreigners in the lab who don’t read english ? just guessing
sorry don’t meant to be an alarmist … just questions that need to be processed -

duriz:
Not as easy as you put it.
It's a great emotional hurdle for the parents. For the father, not his child. For the mother, having carried and nurtured (someone else's + her) child for nine months.
Being pregnant is a very emotional journey.
Anything 鸡毛蒜皮小事 between the couple would be an opportunity to hinge on this.
The child may \"suffer\" unnecessarily.
Yes duriz, the child is the biggets victim here for a human error, a big one
