That's what I heard too and have Happily Anticipated New \"Management\" when she was transfered to PH FOUR LONG years ago ....
I remembered her having a very good reputation when she was heading St Hilda before coming to PHPPS.
But Sadly, was disappointed and I much prefer the Previous Principal Ms Chan, who was transfered to MOE ....
If U want to Talk about Friendly, Compassionate, Strict, Discipline, and Caring for the School and Kids .... She's the One that most Parents, Teachers, Students remember for ....
U will Learn More if U try Talking to the Teachers who have been serving both principals ....
In Fact, current principal is very authoritative and Not very Receptive to Suggestions, unless its Hers .... -
Whoa Funx3, really can sense your displeasure at the current prinicpal. You very no-holds-bar hor :!:
Can tell you must be very upset from your ds’ previous experiences in the sch -

think I Big Mouth, Talk Too Much ....
But All these are gathered from What we talk about among Parents, with Teachers, with the children, their friends, the Coach, ....
During \"Waiting for Kids to Finish Class / CCA / Enrichment\" Chit Chat Sessions ....
And I'm into my 3rd kid in PH now ....
For my ds, I have Long adopted a \"Don't Worry, Be Happy\" Attitude ....
Rub Off from Him to Me   ....
I Used to Scream the Whole HDB Block down when I \"Studied\" with him in the OLD days .... What with the pressure from Working Long Hours, Studying Part Time, and \"Coaching\" my 1st Child FULL time in the Evening .... Am Really \"MAD\" those Days!!!! :x
But Now .... More Mellow ..... Que Sera Sera ..... -

yes....we won markfch over....
I felt sorry when I read this. This ain't right for the poor kid. Based on this example, I'm sold on the collage idea already.dyh:
It seems that she IS friendly to students and has compassion. It is from her conversations with students that she found those in weak classes have inferiority complex. For eg, she said that when she asked the child which class is he/she from, the child did not dare tell her he/she is from \"Patience\". so sad...
Forget about my previous reservations about 近朱者赤,近墨者黑. Though I can understand if some parents still feel uncomfortable with the whole collage concept.
parents play a very important role in the upbring of the kid....parents & school must work together in this aspect.... -

I had a personal encounter regarding this issue and it is very true and the problem is getting serious that the school really needs to rectify immediately. i wish i could share my experiences with all of you but i can't do that because the kid is still in PH. my personal view is that parents' involvement in kids' learning journey is very, very important. that is one main reason why i am so active in the support group.

Pei Hwa is popular and has a WOW factor...tough exam papers and fierce teachers. When I meet parents who have kids in other schools, they tell me how academic driven PH is.
I do wish the principal is friendly and acknowledges the students when they greet her. This reminds me of the principal I had in secondary school who only acknowledges the students who have rich parents. :x -

Thinking along this line too.\"....the child did not dare tell her he/she is from \"Patience\"....\"
R U sure it's not becoz the Kid is Scared of Her? And Not Becoz of Inferiority Complex?
When we first stepped into the sch compound 4 years ago, the pupils wld greet us by stopping in their steps and bow.
Now the pupils just dash pass us.
What had changed in these four years?
In my elder boy's first CA1 with PH, he scored 92/100 in HCL (keep in mind he studied NC from P1 to P3). I met the elderly CL teacher during the parent-teacher meeting and commented that the CA OE compreh was not as difficult as I had imagined since PH is a SAP sch. And her reply was the sch wants to nurture the children, not pressure cook them.
But it seems all changed during these recent years. Not good enough to use P1 assessment books for P1 pupils, shld use one level higher.
The present principal was a teacher for many years before heading the GEP sch as a principal. I had a talk with her once, can tell she is very academic-driven. -

I guess there are always 2 sides to a story. So far I have not encountered anything \"bad\" from her yet.
HUH Friendly ???? R we talking about the same person????
Not from my personal Encounter with Her and from What I gather from my DD ....
DD found her \"FROSTY\" and \"LONG winded\" - esp during morning assembly, keep droning \"ON and ON\" about the same Topic repeatedly .... Students are Not allowed to Read, Not allow to Doze Off :snooze: (Of Course Not! Told my DD that ) .... \"But Keep Listening to the Same thing Every Morning, Very Difficult to Keep Awake-Lah!\", she Retorted ....
Spoken to my Gal's friends / Classmates in Upper Primary (P4 to P6), She is NOT really a Well-Like Figure among the Gals ....
As for pupils who don't like her, it is probably because as you said, she is strict and tough, but I will not equate tough to no good. I remember one teacher mdm Siti has a reputation for being a very fierce teacher. she taught my DS2 earlier this year, and during the parents teachers conference, I was actually very impressed and think she is a very good teacher. I could sense her passion and concern for her pupils. -

But why only those from PA scared of her and not the other classes leh?

For the past 3 years, my boys have not spoken to her.
During this year award giving for P6 (2009), she did not even remember the name of the top scorer properly nor recognise the pupil. -

But why only those from PA scared of her and not the other classes leh?[/quote]Last year by chance, i got to know a family and one of the girl was in \"Patience' . Normally, it is my habit that I will ask kids which class they are in (also for kids in other schools). My actual intention is to find out which level the kid is in. But for this case, when the girl heard my question, i can sense something wrong. she held back awhile, lower her head, eyes looking at the ground and shyly gave me the answer. She paused for a while, and started to tell me about \"Patience\" class which I had never asked her...she told me :- \"Patience\" class is the behind class, we are last in the queue, we sit behind the rest of classes in the hall, we are always last in turn for things to do....but one thing she too shy to say but i thought she wanted to but she didn't know how to put it across to me - that they are academically the last in school....when i heard that, i was pity sad about this issue...
