      Jennifer:
As for the beak, the bird must catch its prey first, then able to eat. A better ans might be \"catch fish and eat\". Cannot think it is common sense that the teacher will understand when we do not write down the \"catch prey\" portion.

My 4 yo were around us when we were discussing this yesterday, she was saying baby penguin does not need to catch fish, just use beak to eat. She saw the pic and said, maybe jiejie thot this one is baby. She added that emperor penguin has big baby, like the one in the pic.

Joke aside. Well, IMO, if the question is to state the function (singular), the student is expected to name any function, not necessary the sequence. Well, again bad question. The students attempted this paper needed some 'luck' to guess what answers the tester is looking for.

I have dropped a 'love letter' to her FT. πŸ˜‰

I wrote an email too. Wld be sending a hardcopy of the email to the HODs too. I want to make sure the feedback gets to the proper authority in the sch.

That's the danger of interpreting the qn wrongly. Unless the qn specifically says this is a baby penguin, we must assume it is an adult one.

My boy also made a few assumptions here and there for this paper. At least, this time he is more receptive to my explanations. Well, this is a learning process. After going through numerous lousy Science qns set by the sch with my elder boy for the past few years, I dun concerned myself too much with the marks as long as my boy understands the concept well (as shown in his MCQ and how he explained to me the ans in section B). I trust PSLE Science paper qns are of better std.

The practice is not to tell paper 1 and oral/listening compreh marks. Scared parents make noise abt the compo marking.

I thought so too but both my dd's FT and Cl teacher let the kids look at their papers 1.

Congrats, comfy!! So ur dd is in CH3? 😎

No lah, it was my 4 yo who cheekily suggested that. The P3 girl did not assume it is a baby penguin.

Hmmm...only FT showed them the EL paper I with scores, the CL tr did not even reveal the score, let alone a peek of the paper. Btw, you got PM.

She did not return paper 2 to my boy ytd :x My boy told me only some classmates have their paper 2 back.

This is ridiculous. Didn't she think before she distributed the papers?

To be safe, be a little long winded even if the qn asks for a reason. Like qn 43b(i) on the balsam plant if the flower is missing. My boy also thought ahead n wrote \"wld not reproduce\" and was marked wrong. I wld prefer \" wld not bear fruit and no reproduction will take place.\"

No need to guess. Safer to write down the \"immediate cause and effect\" type of answers, then followed by secondary effects. Some teachers very stingy one, if dun write down secondary effects, also marked incomplete answers πŸ˜›

Ah lor, siao one. My boy also dun know if some classmates got theirs back last week or why ytd not whole class got theirs back. Funny thing is, she said to return today though the sch letter indicated Wed.
