My dd got the pc of paper today, no fat yellow envelope.

Not surprised nor disappointed, we are happy that she can have a try at the selection test.

Congrats to all who get into GEP.

        Hi Taz,

yes... don't take this too seriously as it is just another test for a series of tests coming up in their learning journey... what's important is our continual support for them in this journey.

Base on my understanding one year back, the top student in my DS1 P3 level didn't get selected for GEP... so the selection criteria are somewhat different and not transparent... Ultimately, whether GEP or not, all will have to take PSLE... enough data shown that top students are from mainstream... Again, with respect to PSLE and tests/exam, DS1 strongly drilled into me that it stands for - PLEASE STOP LEARNING EVERYTHING...

Hi blur-daddy, but all the GEP students have \"special\" privileges to choose their desired secondary school ! They can apply to the school like RI, HCI, NYGH, RGS ,etc via DSA....just because they are in GEP. So...they do have an advantage.

I have to correct the statement. Not all GEP have \"special\" privileges. I have seen quite a number of GEP students get rejected from the RI and HCI. There are still many places for mainstream students.

                  I wonder how they assess.

My P3 was telling me that one of her classmates was selected for 1st test. However, this child's result is so so, so they are surprised. On the other hand, the top in her class didn't make it.

I was like.... err... maybe the top in class are not gifted but they are hardworking ๐Ÿ˜‰

There is a special category for GEP students. And number of pple eligible for this category is much smaller than the other Sports, or Academic categories.... And if the GEPers score >80, only need to go for interviews.....

And if they can rejected, they can apply again using PSLE results, like the rest of the mainstream students.....

So, cannot deny that they have special privileges lah. Which is why a lot of parents sent their kids for prep classes so that they can be selected, right? ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I think, if by now still no envelope, should expect a \"Thank you for your participation note\"
