What is good for cleaning oily surfaces? Magiclean? Mr Muscle? Something else?

      Jif?

      :hi5: maid

BigD, it depends on the surface.
For the kitchen or toilet areas, Jif (I think now it's Cif) is great, as is Mr Muscle (yellow bottle). The latter has a different solution for the toilet (white bottle).

If you prefer home remedies, you can use a solution of water and vinegar for kitchen areas or sprinkle baking soda, let it absorb the grease before wiping the area with a damp cloth.

            Hmmm...seems a lot of recommendations for Cif (yes, maid...even I know it's called Cif now πŸ˜‰ )

But what if it's not a smooth surface? Actually, Mrs Big D is trying to clean the filters from the hood. They are kind of like a wire mesh. Any good suggestions how best to clean them?

              1. Soak in a solution of baking powder and water.
Brush with a wire sponge or wash with a rag.

              2. Or wet the mesh first, then coat it lightly with baking soda.
Rinse under running water and use a wire sponge or rag.

              3. Soak or spray with Mr Muscle or Cif, then use the same method as above.

                  Haha, yes, maid exposed!

Now that you mention about baking soda, perhaps BigD can consider adding baking soda to those spray containers that we use for ironing and then spray it into those wire mesh area? I use that to clean the inside of my oven.

Anyone has good tips for getting rid of house lizards? I don’t want to kill them, just repel them. They really freak me out!! I bought the ridsect lizard spray and the electronic device to plug in. Both don’t seem to be v effective. I still find lizards in my house and somehow especially when hubby is not at home! Help!

Does anyone have any good tips to share regarding how to effectively get rid of house ants? I’ve tried using ants baits, the type that comes in a box of 5 or 6 packets, to no avail.
