Will be shifting to Bukit Panjang area at the end of this year and am now looking for a new school for my girl next year. She's currently in P1. Am hoping to transfer her to CHIJ OLQP . I was told that there is a long waiting list and the chances of getting a transfer is rather slim as no one is transferring out. Called a Bukit Panjang & Beacon but also get the same reply.
Anyone has any idea wrt the criteria which these schools adopt to choose students who are eligible for transfers? Am worried that my girl will not be able to be transferred to any nearby schools after we have shifted becoz there's no vacancy.
Anyone with similar experience to share? What are the chances of securing a place when you are put on the waiting list?

Hello,
Does anyone have any experience transferring their kids to Catholic High or Rosyth Primary to share?
Do the kids have to sit through a test? When must they apply to get a transfer for beginning of next year?
Does anyone know what the school culture is like as well? Emphasis on academic or character building or CCA etc?
Thanks in advance! -

i don't have similar experience, but i guess the schools will look at reason for transfer and also academic results as well as whether any 'skills' that your girl have that will be useful to the school.
if your only reason is to secure a place in a school near your place, there are also other schools in bukit panjang area that is probably easier to get in than CHIJ, BPPS and Beacon. -
Hi all.. not sure if this is the right place to post
Need some advise on a few things..
We move house since mid 2007. During that time, I wanted to transfer my daughter (P1) to a nearby school (School A) when she is in Primary 2 & P3, I tried to approach the school A for two conservative years but still there wasnβt any vacancy. Plus.. they donβt even offer to put me in the waiting list
just ask me to approach the current school & fill up the STEPS form during the year end.
Next year, there is another nearby school (school B) shifting back nearby (under renovation since 2007) & I have approached the School B in Jan this year & filled up the application to transfer school next year.
I have fax over her mid-year results but when will I know that she is accepted?
If she is accepted, I have another son who is going to be in Pri 1 next year & would want to register him in that school, will he be consider under the sibling phase?
&.. Im in dilemma here.. I donβt want to regret changing her to a new school as she is doing fine at the current one. She will be in P4 next year.. is it a right move?? Im pacifying myself that going to the new school there will be lesser time travel (she needs to wake up at 5.45am daily).
Please advise me.. :thankyou: -

A lot of questions here, but I can only answer one. Yes, ur son would be considered as the sibling phase (ie phase1) if ur dd gets accepted into the school before registration starts in July this year.
And yes, Jedamum is doing a good job at directing traffic here. Kudos!! -
Thank you Luanee
I just
hard that everything's ok. -
Hi all, just to update my latest \"situation\"
after I've fax over my kid result... no one bother to call me up & end up I pop into the school again & ask about it.
haiz... I'm rather dishearten by the reply
what the admin manager informed me that all the records will be archived. I need to come again after the 4th term...
So there won't be any confirmation on my daughter transfer yet. :scared: -

Is this a 'hot' school you are transfering your child into? I rem when I placed my girl on a very popular school's wait list, it is always 30+ name long/level.Hi all, just to update my latest \"situation\"

Yes, indeed, some schools do archival every year. You must find out when do they open waitlist registration for the following year. Most schools will tell you they do not base on First-come-first-serve to offer placement. I guess results and proximity matter most. Most schools will only inform those kids' parents who are successful in transfer.
I have friends who move places (or from overseas) and have no issue transfering kids to neighbourhood schools. But if you are only aiming at hot and popular schools, most will only have more openings right after P3(when GEP kids are moved out). -
