I find the CAMPRO is good enough for now.

At Popular, after the member's discount comes
to about below $40 and if you buy during store
wide 20% sales like during National Day and such...
wud be even cheaper! I find that expensive enough.
and this is 2nd year running, that kiddie is using it...
So far, so good. No tears from the daily wear. I'm a
      satisfied customer! 😉

When kiddie was in P1 and the class was on ground
floor, we'll let her use the trolley bag on extra heavy
load days... This however is a subjective situation...
Some schools do allow use of trolley bags and there
are some who don't due to the noise of the wheels
being dragged. Guess they cannot take the noise it
makes when a whole bunch of over 90 children of
(3 classes per se) drag their trolleys all around the
corridors. So, before getting the trolley bags, get
confirmation of clearance from the school first,
lest you may waste money to get another normal
haversack kind eventually... while the nice trolley
one is saved for special holidays.. 😛

When we were choosing a bag for DD last year, we went to Popular to look at the Campro bags. Boy, they were huge and bulky! We gave up and in the end, my MIL got her a normal Disney Princess bag (pink, of course) from some department store.

My DD will ask for trolley bags now and then but I will always explain to her that they are already bulky and heavy WITHOUT anything inside. And the frame makes it a pain to carry, with barely any ventilation for the back, and my DD sweats and gets rashes easily. I also tell her that her classroom is on the 4th floor so I did ask her if she wanted to lug something like that up so many floors.

Luckily, she has stopped asking...for now.

Hi Luvkid, I also bought the TLC model. It’s under SPI, just that it’s the older model. I chose it over the new model as TLC’s top corner is more rectangular than the newer model so that the files can fit in better without getting the "doggy ears" 😎

I think it’s worth the investment. The bag’s very firm according to those who have been using it for years. The base does not give way, which normally happens to other simpler bags.

The bag appears heavy when you try to hold it up. However when it’s properly strapped onto the shoulders, it tapers closely to the person’s back and you simply do not feel much of the weight at all. This is what we are paying for.

My husband originally did not believe in spending so much on a bag. He was just thinking of getting one that is around $40, which we could easily find. I managed to convinced him to check out the SPI bags…and he bought it there and then on the spot!

I have no regrets over this investment.

just wonder if any parent can fill us in on which is a better choice, the SPI TLC bag or the newer SPI bag models ?

when I went there to try it out, the TLC bag was slightly heavier, but seems better built ? with better zips and more slots in the bag for better organisation, but that also adds to the weight.

I bought the TLC model instead of the newer model. My boy's been using it this Jan. Very satisfied with the investment.

I based my decision on the top arc of the bag. TLC has a more \"right-angled\" top as compared to the new model. This means that the A4-size books or files would be able to fit in nicely. The new model's rounded arc may cause the files or books to develop \"dog-ears\" 😄

                        Hi Japhys,

we finally bought the newer SPI model bag, with the huge SPI words across it(looks pretty ugly), only because of the top handle that is woven at the top, instead of the older TLC model, because the top handle is woven only at the corner seams with the shoulder straps. The TLC model on display seems a bit worn off at the top handle.

yes, i was actually eyeing the TLC model, looks more pleasing than the newer ones. And the zips are metallic, looks better built in terms of the material. ALso the interior is wider, can fit in A4 size ex bks, files, etc.

not sure if its a good buy ?
