It's been a crazy and hectic 😢 time since Wednesday night (before his op) until Saturday.
I did the day shift while hubby did the night shift.
Other than that, I am relieved he is at home.

Am Happy for your Family for the successful Op.
Now It's Time to Take a Well Deserved REST for U.

Looks Like Both U and Your Hubby need to Recuperate from Your Hectic Vigil as well.

Son and I are so relieved to be discharged. I fell sick yesterday with throat infection and fever due to insufficient rest. But recovering now. Nothing beats the feeling of HOME SWEET HOME.[/quote]Hi Janet, Great that your Ds is back home! Will continue to pray for God's healing hands upon yr Ds. Take care of yrself! Take more VitC and nothing beats going to bed and have a long and rested sleep.

The names of the classes are really ironic.

For those in Charity, they cannot afford to be charitable bcos every mark counts. As for those in Wisdom, they really need more wisdom to move upwards. Those in Patience need to be patient. Hopeful students hope to move to Grace, Faith or Charity. What a joke.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your prayers and well-wishes. The worst is over…we waited 10 years for this operation.

                Hi Funx3,

We really waited 10 years for this operation…not a joke.

He was born with cleft lip and palate. At 2 mth, he had lip repaired and palate repaired at 8 months. There are different stages of development. After lip and/or palate is repaired, there is a lapse of few years…whereby they will have speech therapy. When he was 8, he started to see the orthodontist who will examine his jaw structure. At the end of last year, the jaw structure started to stabilize (went for several X-rays). In fact, some kids have this bone graft op at 12 or 13 years old.
After this bone graft op, the next step is to get braces done.

Glad to see that you're back Janet, & everything went as planned.

Boy, you must have spent quite a bit on these operations. But I believe every cent spent is worth it.

You are a wonderful mom, Janet! Give yourself a real 'Hard\" pat on your shoulder back and I am sure your DS will definitely appreciate you. 10 years is a long time, good for you and happy for you that the major part is over.

but ranking states as last in class :? . This just seems so unfair & best avoided.

The child whose ranking is last in class though the results are also fantastic has a chance to learn an impt lesson.

Ranking is a cruel practice. But it prevails everywhere. The sooner our child understands and accepts it as part of the system, and not to be too bothered by it, but to set his own target to be a better person, the better it is for the child's sanity.

When my elder boy was promoted to Ch5 from Jo4, his level position was 37. He was also very apprehensive in going to CH5, getting new classmates, perceived more workload, perceived higher expectations from teachers. He had asked if we could write in a request for him not to go to Ch5.

We did not. Instead we had a talk with him - there are always someone who are clever than us. If our life is to be competing against everyone we meet, then it is really a very tiring and sorry life.

During the parents-teachers meeting, we told his FT about our boy's thoughts. His FT also told him to focus on his own targets and to enjoy learning. Once this mental hurdle was overcome, it was an enjoyable learning journey amidst some hiccups here and there.
