      Hello mummies,

Any regrets in pri five level?Yes for me, I bought too many chinese assessment books and never touch.Focus too much on math.I realised that doing math is learn to process and understand it and not just do and forget. This is something that DS has not captured the art of doing math.Hope before psle, he is able to see it, so dont have to do math till FACE GREEN GREEN.He partial doing it by route learning and half processing...If process skill is there, do not need to spend so much time on it and focus on Chinese instead.
      Cheers
How time flies and this year is almost over.
Dd has to continue to work harder as her results are still way behind her peers. Hopefully her career-minded mum can have more time for her studies next year.

Thanks for reminding me.Yes, I only filed his pri one SAs paper to date.

Actually, via the paper can see alot on how he is in the exam.

One year, his eng was full marks, cos you can see that he puts lots of thoughts into it via all the marking...tis year, no full marks, cos he said half way stomach pain.....I believe, cos the whole paper is very clean....

        Hello,

        I throw everything.
I know for science, I should keep but I also throw.I know in pri six , there are so many worksheets, etc and I will never look back. For pri three and four science books,or even pri five, I keep in the storeroom, cos i dont think i will refer.

For math, all past year papers i also throw, books too, that is pri five level. As have mentioned, pri six have too many things coming in, I dont want to keep for the sake of keeping..

I filed up son's CA/SA exam papers since P1...kept up his Eng and Maths textbooks. Dumped his Eng, Maths and Science workbooks/activity books and Higher Chinese textbooks. Happiest time of the year for me is to do spring cleaning after SA2.

          Hi Brenda,

DS also starts reading xiao mao ri ji, but not really indept as needs me to read to him.So, I read one chapter to him and he read one chapter to me.No choice cos he is totally anti chinese.Did you make your dd copy down all the chinese vocab being read?

          Thanks
          Hi Leanne

No. So far she will point to me some goods phrases or words that she come across. Then I will try to take note and use it during our daily conversation.

            Hi Brenda,

            Thanks.

Same here.To make ds read actually is in the hope that he inculcate the reading habit.I know book work can be done for exam, but I believe reading is the way to help in fluencing a sentence.Be it compo or oral.

            Cheers

              Hi Leanne

My opinion in maths, there are some models (ratio etc) that take the longer time to remember the application. However once the child grasp the method well then it will be easier to solve the maths questions.

So far the weaker area dd done was CL compo. However I'm still happy that she was ranked no. 18 in the School Level of CL may be due to she did quite well in CL P2. Plan to let her read most CL story books (xiao mao ri ji etc) as I find this is the better way to improve in the CL Language. One book contains about 17,000 CL words.

[/quote]I'm still waiting for my xiao mao ri ji - ordered from dangdang but not arrived yet. DS did badly for SA2 CL this round due to \"out-of-point\" compo - pulled down his CL overall marks. Eng also not too good - both lang needs \"work\".

å‘½é¢˜ä½œę–‡ easier to write out of point, unless learnt the skill to turn around as a plot for something else etc

ēœ‹å›¾ä½œę–‡ always recommended by CL teachers, less risky of getting out of point

a good CL / HCL teachers (including tuition teachers) would be able to stress the skills how not to get out of point

Maybe dd's sch expectation is lower, all seem to be able to continue doing HCL in p6.

I am waiting for popular sale so that I can buy HCL assessment books too.

Yes, dd's teacher also strongly encourage the kids to do ēœ‹å›¾ä½œę–‡.

you know how it is like in exam condition ...... the å‘½é¢˜ä½œę–‡ looks deceptively easy, just a few words as a topic...while the pictures look complicated .....but when the child hit problems developing the plot in å‘½é¢˜ä½œę–‡, it is hard to change topic, time lost, etc etc
