Went to United Square to collect race pack last Sat. To my atonishment, the sizes are way too size and lots of parents are crowding the exchange counter. Most of them have the same sentiments as me. The sizes are too small. I requested medium size for my sons (6 yrs) and another medium size for a girl (12 yrs) under my care, but is skinny. Though i missed out on the dimension during registration, my thoughts during then were the medium size would be based on the category they are in. What a surprise when this is not the case. Most parents are requesting for a change to "L" or "XL" size. My chance to exchange would be slim. Response fm organiser is to wear own T-shirt if doesn’t fit. What kind of response is this? I paid a total of $150 for 5 kids in return for T-shirts which cannot be worn. Guess what the alternative response fm the organiser? Told me to buy the parent t for the kids. :x

I ordered a L size for my son (slim boy 12 yrs) and it’s so tiny, I doubt he’ll wear it on the day itself. What’s frustrating is, I took measurements and ordered according to the dimensions given but yet, the size turns out too small.

And we were told no other sizes available for exchange. :x
I’m not too hopeful with how the event will turn out.

My son's also one of those whose t-shirt was too small and I had ordered based on the dimension given online! Luckily I went early on Saturday and was able to change from Small to Large.

Though I would not be able to recognise any of you, have fun on that day 😄

I have wrote in to the organiser. No reply initially until I sent another email. The reply given was last year dimension was too big for the kids , as such, they make the size smaller… No further explaination was given. They are obviously trying to shun away from responsibility. Now, I don’t expect much from the run itself. And i don’t think I will enrol my kids again next year.

Parents looking for kids sports activities / programs, you can check http://www.sportonkids.com.sg. Membership fee $20 a year. Various monthly workshops / activities at $5.00 each or for free.

There's also the Kids Athletics Club, where kids gather on Sat 5.00-6.30pm at either Bukit Gombak, Tampines or Serangoon Stadium for different types of exercises each week. Monthly fee $10.00.

They will be conducting a workshop on 29 May at Bukit Gombak Stadium 9.00-11.00am, for $5.00 (Member) $10 (Non-Member).

My 6 year-old niece has been a member for 2 months now, she seems to be enjoying herself in these activities and making new friends.

Have a try or at least find out more info.

              All the best !

Which probably means my less-than-Athletic ds1 probably can't join.

Thanks anyway....should be good for ds2 when he gets a bit bigger. 😄

Son took part in the speedy dash today. Due to the extremely tiny-t he had, he turned up in his school PE gear. Think he was a it self conscious.

2 kids in the first wave of runners took a tumble as there were some jostling. Other than that, the organisers did a great job ensuring the run went smoothly. Not sure how the event with the younger ones went, though.

Son got a chance to dash from the padang, turn at fullerton hotel, round the old parliament building and finished 1.4km. His first competitive run and he completed it with a huge smile on his face and a medal which he was so proud of. Glad I signed him up.

                    Great experience for him.

                      Hi 😄

Same here. I am also glad that I signed my son up. He was really extremely excited abt the medal too! He said he would want to train up for next year's run!!

Besides the concern over the measurement of the t-shirts, I thought the event went really well.

My girl too, she’s very proud and claimed that it’s her first medal, with many more to come.

I guess all the races start quite promptly, the only complain i have is that at the end of the race, they didn’t give out the certificates to all participants or the so called goody bags. Luckily my nephew completed the age 5-6 race earlier and we were aware of it and asked. The organisers were still packing them…hmm thought they would know the number of participants and prepared sufficient bags? Also they have different items in the bags for different races? My girl only has 2 friendship bands, a FILA sticker and the certificate in the bag.
