In this sch, as long as your kids are within the top 70 percentile, i personally think that efforts should be channelled to the development of sports or performance arts rather than fighting for a place in GEP or top mainstream classes.

Just pause for a moment and consider whether the above made sense.

        Hi Luanee,

what did the FT say abt the CCA? Forgot to ask her that day
We made 6 choices via the internet and apparently, we are unsucessful. We didnt even get 1.
That's puzzling. Wonder how they do the allocation?
Then next year when CCA beomes compulsory. Confirm we cant get anything of our choice?
So I guess its good to start early...
        Pat
Oh teacher said that if u havent received any notification yet, means u had not been successful. And there would be a reapplication opportunity in early Jan. My dd joined the choir in P1 and P2, but for P3 she changed something else as her first choice, so now she didnt even get a single one out of her 6 choices! I was quite surprised too. Perhaps they give priority to P4 and above since their CCA is compulsory?

Btw does anyone know how the house color is being determined? Would there be any change when they reach P3? Reason is my girl complains that her current PE tshirt is too tight for her. So if we want to get new ones, what house color should we get? The same color or it doesnt matter?

Oh and the teacher also told us my dd’s ranking among the entire P2 level. So they do rank, just that they didnt publish out the results.

I asked for ranking in class and level, Class she told me but level she just said within xx (very broad isnt it?)

As for the CCA she said she wanted to drop her violin and and now none was sucessful so guess have to wait for January...

She told me there was a lot of vacancy for bowling and she was keen, I just told her NO, too far.....

Oh where is the bowling venue?

Her teacher told us my dd's exact level ranking leh... but i didnt ask about the class one.

And finally received email from school that there be no school tomorrow except for performers, prize winners and P6 girls, what a late notice.

                Hi Luanee,

I don’t think a student’s house changes through the levels. My dd is in P3 this year and she is still in the same house even after reallocation from P2 to P3.

Sorry for my ignorance but if I don't ask, I won't learn: what/ how does one compute to find out if one is within the top 70 percentile? Thank you.

Oic thanks. Btw 70th percentile means the top 70% of the level i guess?

Luanee, 70 percentile means the top 30% of the cohort.

                      aqeqiq

Computation of level position: cohort size x 30/100 = 70 percentile. You can ask yr dd’s form teacher.

Using recent statistics and making my own inferences. my findings can be summarised as follows:

                      Level Position Percentile PSLE T-Score
                      90 70 255
                      60 80 263
                      30 90 271

The above estimate does not differ much each yr as RGPS is one of the top schools, therefore its excellent results are maintained consistently each yr. Only the players change.

One more thing, there’s no need to say sorry, cause myself is ignorant about many things in life

                      Regards

If i interpret correctly, one must be within the top 60 in level position which is 80 percentile in RGPS that will most likely gets 263 and above in PSLE T-Score. Anyway i pick 263 bcos the COP for RGS is around there. At 70 percentile one can go to any IP school. This is a very useful piece of info. Thanks.
