      Hi,

      Yes , I agreed.

For ds, he is neutral about it.So, I let him continue.Take it as an enrichment.

For RGS,RI, they dont take into account of hmt, they still offer hmt right?

      Cheers

      Hi Phanko,

      Thanks for info.

I think with hmt, can be quite useful, esp if in sec , one take hmt and when comes to JC, there is some advantage in the points.

If it's in your child's aptitude and interest, then yes - go for HMT.

We didn't allow our 2 older children to do HMT, but our 3rd has great interest in Chinese culture, so there he is doing HMT.

Yes, they offer HMT, but I'm talking about the use of points for entry to school, yah?

In my boys' school, all have to do HCL even if not taking HCL exam. Strange hor.

Oh, and in my elder boy's sec school - there is no option. They HAVE to take HMT. So for the 1st time, he is doing HMT. It seemed ok at first, but the last terms assessments were so difficult, even his tutor said that they were like Sec 3 standard (for HCL).

if passed HMT at Sec 4, there is no need to do MT at JC level

if PSLE score is top 30%, can take HMT even if t-score is less than 250, no need to be in SAP school to take HMT

the additional 1, 2, or 3 marks for HMT at PSLE is only applicable of one is applying to SAP schools sec 1

                    Hi Leanne

I find for language is not necessary. If they do wrong then just explain to them what is the meaning of the words and try to use it again next time.

                      1. This means GCE O levels, take HMT paper ?
                      2. and that at A levels (JC), no need to take AO level chinese ? and hence can take A level Chinese ?

I remember my friend told me there is the additional impact of after O levels to JC admission because if at O levels, there is HMT, can subtract 2 points for JC admission (which is a lot).

                        Hi Brenda,

                        I thought so too.

I will let her learn the new vocab and then do the test papers, no hurry though
