Travel: China - Hong Kong

The last time I went to Ladies Market was before 1997.
just like our pasar malam, quite interesting experience but did not buy anything.
if you got time to kill, go to Elements Mall & HarbourCity. These 2 malls are in the city. Elements has an ice-skating ring within the mall. HarbourCity has a ToysRUs. Both are quite large in size too. -

You miss nothing by giving Ladies Market a missThanx Tankee,
Briefly look thu the links. Looks good.
Will definitely explore these places. Have u been to Ladies Market?
Read on the thread its selling things like T- shirts and souvniers. Thinking to give it a miss.
Was there a few weeks ago - though I go HK a couple of times a year but the last time I went to ladies maket before the recent time was more than 10 years ago. Just selling cheap tourist stuff. Never change.
Causeway Bay, Harbour City, Pacific Place has got more things -
OIC,
All ur feedback give me some ideas on what to focus.
We will be there for 5 Days 4 Nights. 5 adults 1 kid. Will spend a day in Disneyland and another at Ocean Park. 1 of the day we plan to visit an island, I think is Lautau Island. For the SEAFOOD!!!
Guess got limited time for shopping. And since its our first family trip with my mom and gal, wan to make sure I have proper planning so that all of us will enjoy the get to gather!!!
Any other food or places you will recommend? I am a bit worry about the weather too. My 4yp gal has sensitive nose. Am worry if the weather in mid Dec will be ok for her. -

should go to the Peak at night if the weather is good = clear sky
shop around pacific place, have a good dinner around there, then take the tram up to the Peak
last time when airport was still at Kai Tak, could see the plane landing and taking off one by one
the chinese restaurant up at the Peak is not too bad / not too pricey -
Bowie:
I agree if weather permits, go to the Peak. When we were there two weeks ago, it was raining. So we canceled our plan there. Anyway, you can check out 7-day weather forecast at http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/trip-planner/hongkong-weather.html. Super accurate.OIC,

As for food, you must not miss the roast goose. We tried at the famous Yung Kee Restaurant on Wellington St in Central. Be prepared to wait if you don't have a reservation. My daughter enjoyed the roast goose very much.
For detailed of our HK intinerary plus other useful tips, you can check out my blog here:

We spent 5D4N there too.
Hope it helps. -
Yung Kee: Better make reservation.
Personally, I like Fa Yuen Street. It’s not like Ladies Mkt selling the typical touristy stuff and locals frequent it. You can find cheap fashion wear, shoes and bags, umbrellas, dirt cheap toys.
Since your mum is coming, is she into "hoi mei" (i.e. dried scallops, birdnests, sharksfins, pao shen etc)? I strongly recommend a visit to Sheung Wan area (MTR station: Sheung Wan). Few stretches of roads lined with these shops. According to my mum, quality very good and much cheaper than S’pore. We also stumbled upon a shop that only sells the yummy HK egg noodles and nothing else. Can be packed in boxes and very presentable as gifts. -

Lamma island is the one you go to for seafood. The most famous one is Rainbow Seafood Restaurant.1 of the day we plan to visit an island, I think is Lautau Island. For the SEAFOOD!!!!

Hope u have time to explore this scenic and tranquil island too. -
my personal favourite (thanks to recommendation by my HK relatives) - claypot rice at Temple Street (tai pai dong style). Nearest MTR station should be Yau Ma Tei. There are many stalls there selling, just choose the one with good business. After eating there, I don't even want to eat claypot rice in s'pore anymore.
