I'm still trying to figure out how classes will be differentiated now that there is no more Faith, Grace, Kindness etc...so if whole level of P6 is Resilience or P5 Loyalty, then how do the kids know which class is theirs ? :?
Sorry if I missed earlier posts as I was busy attending to son...post-op care. Would like some advice as I wish to wrap some of the textbooks and label them. Thanks in advance.
I understand the part about the female teachers who will take time off for maternity leave since most are of child-bearing age...my son has a replacement FT when his FT went off for maternity leave in July. Fortunately, both FT are equally caring and taught the class well.
What I cannot tolerate is the relief teacher who takes over when the teacher is sick for a period of time...of course falling ill is part and parcel of life too...son's CL teacher had chickenpox and was on MC for 2 weeks...during that period of time, my son told me the relief teacher just sat in the class and didn't do anything. That was in late August. -

Probably something like Loyalty 5/1, 5/2, ....
But Of Course Better to Wait for Almighty's Letter in Mid-Dec ....
Probably Best to \"SCHEDULE\" the Wrapping / Labeling of Books Till Then ....
No Hurry - la ....

Hi Mark,
To sidetrack a bit, yesterday during P1 orientation P mentioned that with most PH teachers being female & under 40, disruption due to maternity leave is going to remain as part & parcel of sch life. By being upfront about it, I think she's trying to preempt future parents' complaints about the constant change of teachers.
Care to Share what CCA P is selling During the Orientation?
TIA. -

There was an exhibition on chinese & indian dances followed by a short speech by some of the girls on why dancing is fun. PH won gold in inter-sch competition for both dance events recently. So I guess this is the fad at the moment. But it's only for gals.

Maybe next yr PH will bring a horse to perform on stage in order to promote equestrian. Maybe even get the horse to say why it likes equestrian :rotflmao:.
Would like ds to join scouts though. Always thought that joining scouts will build character but I think PH doesn't offer it as an cca. -

I asked my son for his opinion and how P5 will be differentiated...he told me the Loyalty 5/1, 2, 3 etc or else 5/A, 5/B...no big deal lah...after all ALMIGHTY is the one who decides. Just follow her LAW.
No Hurry - la ....

They have BB

Yah, BB is a good alternative. The reason I prefer scouts slightly more is that a) it's obvious from what's being presented during the orientation that christian education is already very well covered daily in PH & b) I'm more familiar with scouts' activities such as the annual scouts day, overnight trekking, campfire.
They have BB
Can just imagine ds looking smart in a scout uniform  . -

Activities similar to those you mentioned are available in BB too. My son just had a BB overnight camp yesterday. They even went for a 5.2 km night walk from school to clementi last night.

In BB, they also learn tying knots, pitching tent, field cooking, first aid bandaging, drills etc.
Besides imho, the BB uniform is smarter than scout uniform.

Oh, you mean BB also has interesting activities such as campfire & night walk too? Thanks for the heads up. Looks like that will be one I'll persuade ds to join.

The other one I quite like is competitive table tennis. In competitions, we'll taste both victories & defeats. These are good life lessons for ds to learn to cope with at a young age. Too bad the cca timing (think it's wed morning) is not suitable for us, unless we employ a maid. Heard from my colleague that nowadays table tennis is serious business in pri sch. His kid wanted to join at P2 but was rejected as being too late, cos those cca players started their training at P1 :faint:.
