ehm? Was math also tested?? How come DD never mentioned? :idea:

Anyway, not as I know. I will check with her tonight if I remember.

1G2B, your dd is really good at \"reporting\". πŸ™‚ Mine always only gave me two words \"ok lah\" or \"not sure\" for most of the questions I asked. :stupid:

Following \"clues\" in your post, so I went \"dig dig dig\" last night, finally found out from DD that she claimed to know most of the Chinese & English words, but added that some words she knows how to read, but doesn't know what they means. 😐 I asked her how many of them, she held out one hand in front of me..... so that's all I know.

In fact, i have no idea:( Sorry to said it.
I am so stressed in this subject ^^Yun Yu^^ :stupid:

wow, you are very informed. Thanks for sharing.

No need to be stressed lah. I was quite encouraged the other day when the principal said by P2, ALL students will be able to master 2000 Chinese words after adopting this Yun Yu method!!!! wow! So think about it, we only need to bite the bullet together with kids for the first 2 years before we see the light at the end of the tunnel!! Actually, not that bad.. IMHO

oral tests - when I picked DS up after the orientation and asked him about the tests, he commented he knows but refused to tell me more! with all the clues from fellow parents, i asked him again this morning and he confirmed the below:

- DS' class didn't get to watch any TV at all, they sat with other kids while waiting for their turn to take the oral tests
- some words were on paper, some words were written by teacher
- there was a comprehension passage indeed for chinese and then questions to answer
- all in all, DS said he didn't know how to read 2 english words (tallied with what he mentioned on orientation day) and verified that teacher did not tick 2 boxes on the paper for the words he couldn't read. one of the word was \"through\" which he said he realized how to read only when he was walking back to his seat (DS always forget how to read/pronounce this word)
- for chinese, he said he could read all the words and all the boxes on the paper were ticked by the teacher

* hope he didn't smoke me!* :roll:

janice_0950 - do you mean 30 words for spelling per week? :!:

i have yet to open any of the texts to browse, especially the chinese texts!

btw, did anyone sign up to buy the pen that can read the words in the chinese text?

more update from DD:

tour around school? \"yes, library, computer lab, fishing pond (is there one???) \"
Watch TV? \"yes\";
orange juice? \"yes, not a tiny drop left\";
math test? \"no\";
words on paper? \"yes\";
words written by teacher? \"no\".;
Chinese story and Q&A? yes;
What's the story about? \"about a boy got up late and mummy wanted to bring him to antie's place and have cake.\"
all ticks? \"not sure\"; :idea:
no tick? \"not sure\". :idea:

I insisted her giving me one example of the words that she knows how to pronounce but doesn't know its meaning... After blinking her eyes for more than 1 min, she quoted \"liftless\", then she said actually now she knows what it means. I asked her what it means. She said \"no lift ζ²‘ζœ‰η”΅ζ’―\". :nosebleed:

But I think \"liftless\" is a difficult word for P1-to-be if DD didn't bluff me.

my daughter was in Group 7, and there was no TV for them. The teacher give them a piece of paper to color while waited for their other children access.
Any parents with kids in P2 this year? Any idea how class distribution works this time round?

I suppose is still based on merit. The best class being Courage, followed by the rest, accordingly ?

Yes, you are right, but starting from next year, it will not be that anymore, instead, the best class will be C, D, E and followed by F, G, H and lastly, I, J, K.

off-topic: today's my last day in school, i'm a p6 in the school, we had graduation party that just ended. And to those with kids that are p1 next year. Remember to come for the p1 orientation tomorrow! I'll be one of the guide as i'm a prefect.
.
Hi, workinghard, can you pls provide some update on this year's PLSE results in Poi Ching, other than the top scorer is 268? I am keen to know how did the top 3 classes perform? Average aggregate score and how many score more than 250? Thanks

Hi all

Noticed the forum has been quiet for a while!

Am wondering when the class allocation will be out. 😐 Any parents labelled all the P1 books with names and so on already? Did your child write the name on the book or bought labels to paste?
