The weather isn't really good for bringing kids out these days... and i'm not too keen in letting them watch tv...

jus wondering if u hav any suggestions on how i can keep kids occupied at home during the holidays?

Can use the time to brush up their weak subjects. Eg Language tuition or Maths/Science tuition. Or some enrichment courses.

This is what many education savvy parents are doing nowadays.

Because now the student has more time and less stress. And can utilize the time to clear up many of the problems areas they faced.

There are ready made stickers mosaic from Orb factory which are super occupying the children. Mythree children can paste the tiles for the whole day.


Unfortunately, I forgot which company sells it cos I bought it from the baby fair recently.

It is reasonably priced and the children loved it. There are in different design for boys and girls.

mid-week of the first week of sch holidays, what have i done with my kids?

nothing much. :politebleah:
i instructed ds1 to keep ds2 occupied.
they have been playing lego and dunno what (i just switched on their study/playroom's aircon and they can stay inside for the whole afternoon).
ds1 got ds2 to do some pages of assessment books; ds1 drew up some worksheets for ds2 to do and drew up 'achievement certs' for ds2. they built clubhouse on my sofa/under the study table and just a while ago, they were just throwing pillows at each other while singing to a counting tune.
they have the usual tv time, about half hour once morning, once afternoon, once evening. reading time. i have yet to bring them out cos i am lazy (prefer to wait time weekends when dh is free ). :oops:
oh, and ds1 also get a half hour of computer time everyday for helping me occupy ds2.

My boy is 3++ going 4 in Jan...


What he did the past 2 days:
1. Playground
2. Art lesson with his art teacher who comes to our place
3. DIY art & craft session (he drew hearts on recycled paper and cut them out on his own & distributed them to my students)
4. Reading
5. Singing & dancing (I think he created his own musical based on Sound of Music)
6. Jigsaw puzzles
7. Play masak & play dough
8. Play hide & seek with me
9. Do some assessment books
10. Play with hamsters
11. Talk to his guppies
12. Watch TV (around 2 hr per day - Sound of Music or Wink to Learn DVDs)

Today:
My mum brought him out with the maid.
I think they are at my uncle's house.

Am wondering how we are going to handle the rest of the holidays!!
I did not sign him up for any holiday program this time (first time!).
Hopefully I'll find enough activities for him. Bringing him to the zoo next Monday before we go off on our holiday.

Subsequently, I really have no idea already...

So far, for this holidays there aren’t many places he can go, partly because he has brass band commitments till begining of December & also during last week of December. Right now, he is doing all these or is going to do:

1. 2 science books a day (I didn’t prompt him to do this)
2. 1 chinese story a day
3. Listening to classical music
4. writing his own science theories (I didn’t prompt him to do this)
5. watching science documentaries (I also didn’t prompt him on this)
6. visit the libraries (he asked to bring him there)
7. gone to SAFRA Jurong (Kids Admaze)
8. will be visiting the nature reserves in Singapore
9. will be visiting the zoo, sentosa & bird park
This he told me is his itineary.

try building some projects with them. I’ve brought 2 huge 3D puzzles, gotten some projects book and gives them a chance to be creating something. I am quite surprise that they are rather focus than asking to play on the computer.

wondering if any of you here have enrolled in art programs for your children? My girl likes to doodle and draw stuff so i’m looking at signing her uo for an art class.

any recommendations?

she loves the einstein guy on okto and always want to draw like him…but i so doh on drawing…cannot teach her…haha
