Hihi
Hmm, let just say SPS is not our choice but is trying to remain positive about it.
First, I agree the current principal is a marketing guy, but hey! I like marketing guys, but he is LEAVING. Next the school is moving soon for 1.5 years. Then we experience 2 families quarreling LOUDLY in the hall duing the orientation and 1 even point a middle finger at the other. Then we had 3 sets of fathers with tattoos all over legs and arms in the class.
Put it altogether, I am worried. I mean I know home environment is impt but the crowd at school is impt too!
My girl was grouped then the in-charge told me "Oh no, that’s not her class, her class will be determined later." I was like huh? Is that the norm?
Any current parents with kids in SPS, please enlighten me. Personally I like the school, bright and sunny. I like the rules the principal have on kids but he is leaving. Anyone knows if the new principal is good and share the same direction?
I am considering to put her on waitlist at other schools hoping some parents might withdraw in Dec. -
Honestly, this is the first time I have encounter this type of incidence.
I have attended several activities in the school hall in the past when my eldest and second daughter are in SPS; but have never encounter this. I was shock too as I was just setting diagionally ~ 3 rows behind.
Are people more stress up? I dun know…
The class that I am in (4C) was ok, everything goes very smoothly… everyone busy filling up the forms and queuing up to submit the forms.
As for the grouping, is this is the norm that the child is not group according to their class? I am not quite sure… lol… is almost 6 yrs ago when my second daughter is in P1, but I think I remember that my elderest and second daughter class is made know at that time.
We too, asked the teacher and their answer is the same.
Btw, for my two daughters, their are under the first principal. The current principal joined as vice principal in 2004, if I remember correctly. So the whether is a nom, under this principal… I could not tell.
Could not advice much. -
Hi it is first time i heard about such incident happen in orientation. Maybe it could be some personal grudges or what, otherwise how would a normal parent quarrel with other parents whom they could have just met that day? Singapore is getting more stressed huh? LOL
As for the class allocation, both my kids will only get to know the class no through mail in Dec. It is sad that the current P is leaving and hope the new P will continue or even enhance the good work the P had done. But changing of P is a norm to most schools over a few years. Even the elite schools, unless independent schools, they get to change P too. However i believe no major changes will be seen for the initial years if their current formulA works well, and we could see that these elites schools are still doing very well.
So let's hope the new P will bring SPS to a greater height too. :celebrate: -
hehe.. ya boy.. i was sitting infront and didnt even realised that somebody was quarelling behind.. not sure what happened though.
seems like quite alot of foreign students in SPS.. some of them were really quite big size.. i hope they're gentle LOL ...
I feel quite good about the orientation.. did not seems to be that bad .
I was quite fed up with a PRC mother who seems to be very inconsiderate.. putting her bag on empty seat... and when more parents came in.. still left her bag there and act blur...
Now i was thinking about whether my boy will know how to clean up himself nicely if he do some big job (pooing) in school. We are already training my boy to clean up and shower himself since he will be going to a nearby student care .. by the way... will there be any school buddy to assist them in buying lunch? -

Aiya.. sesame.. Tattoo is art ma.. LOLHihi
Then we had 3 sets of fathers with tattoos all over legs and arms in the class.
Its not the tattoo that tells a person.. its the attitude that tells a person

My kids had P2 kids to buddy them for recess when they were P1. So nxt yr will b my kid’s turn to buddy the P1. Don’t worry the teachers will be there to keep a look out.

Quite amazed that people will quarrel during orientation …
SPS is a multi-national school - SGP, Malaysia, PRC, Phillipines, Myanmar, etc
The new P1s will have P2 buddy during recess time (probably for a week).
My daughter (2G) has already been briefed & has a checklist of to-do for the P1 buddies … -
