Hi acbj,
Heard frm one parent whom I met @ GSSC that morning pick up to GSSC from Sembawang is ard 6+am.
I feel that it's way too early.
5.45am?!?!?!
Crazy rite?
I think they merge with the morning session gals to cut cost, but really ridiculous!!!
We'll let DD sleep in late & DH will send her in abt 9am. -

MCS has been scoring >275 for the last 2 years. Let's hope we'll make it to the list again 3rd time round. -

Hi acbj,Hi Tinkerbelle
Thanks a lot for your sharing.
It's great to have you around.
:hugs:
Glad to know the P1 form teachers are yet to be confirmed.
Hopefully they will all be friendly, cheerful and approachable.
Heard from a friend (not from MCS) that the child in the class pee at the seat on the first day because he was too afraid to ask the teacher......
You're most welcome.
Scary thought! Child peeing in class because of fear of teacher. Oh dear!! Hope that'll never happen to our gals.

Hi LLX04,
Hi Tinkerbelle, how's MCS' artistic gymnastics? Nt as good as the rhythmic? Next year's schedule is still wed n fri?Tinkerbelle:
Hi LLX04,
No, I just have the tentative CCA schedule 2011 with me..
Rhythmic gym is also good for DSA in P6 (ha, ha, still very far down the road). This year, 2 of our MCS gals got places in RGS during the DSA selection.
Artistic gym is good too but rhythmic gym is the sch's niche and is more popular as most parents hope to use that for DSA in P6 if their DDs are good.
What your DD saw during orientation is rhythmic gym, where they use ribbons, clubs and balls for their routines.
Tentative schedule for Artistic gym for next year is still wed & Fri. -

Hi cantbearit2,
Wow, impressive!!! How abt netball? Do u know anyone fr MCS got into a gd sch via DSA route?Tinkerbelle:

Despite the chaos, it is v reassuring for me to know that u seem 2b aware of all the happenings in MCS whether relevant to your DDs or not. It means that parents of MCS are well informed.

Sorry, I don't know about DSA statistics for netball. Just heard from a netball mummy that it's hard to DSA with netball as it's a team sport, whereas for gym, they have individual awards during their competitions. Having said that, I feel a child should persue a CCA she is interested in, rather than solely for DSA purposes. Just my 2cents worth.
I know someone who joined a CCA for DSA reasons and the child is suffering as she finds the CCA a chore and doesn't enjoy it at all, but she cannot quit as everyone is committed to a CCA for at least 1 year.
Ha, ha, I seem to know about what's going on in sch because I'm very kay poh....l :rotflmao: . -

PSLE results will only be released on 25 Nov at 12 Noon. When I find out, I'll let you know how our MCS gals fare. :rahrah: MCS.
Wow, you're one enthu mama...already asking about foundation subjects....
At the end of P4, all students will be streamed according to their academic performance. For MCS, most students will be in the normal main stream who do 4 'standard' subjects (with or without Higher Mother Tongue) in P5.
Weaker students will be streamed to the 'foundation' class where they complete their syllabus at a slower pace. In other words, they'll take either 4 'foundation' subjects (for those who are weak in all 4 subjects) or 3 'foundation' subjects plus 1 'standard' subject (for those who are weak in their 3 core subjects but are strong in their Mother Tongue). There is currently only 1 Foundation class in MCS. Hope I didn't confuse you too much.
