of course you can just go by yourrself.
I shouldnt have said \"book\". Its just that you culd email them and join their walk. If it is your first time then a guided walk would may be better. But if you prefer striking it out on your own, then it should be perfectly fine.

        And thanks for the wishes.

          be careful with the cycling

some years back a lady fell off the bike going down slope too fast too steep, and died...sad

          :!:
I know the slope is very steep. I'm only intend to go to the Chek Jewa trip. With 2 little kids, I also cannot bring them cycling.
          Thanks for the advice.

          Hi

          We went this June'2010.

Not advisable to cycle with kids along.. It is very dangerous.. The roads are narrow & is share with cars... The slope are steep with stones....
At first we thought of cycling around the island with my 2 boys age 10 & 11... After taking the van to our resorts.. then we decided not to cycle..

Anyone with any tips on visiting Chek Jawa?

Whats the best time to go and what to look out for ?

Can we just go to the visitor centre and pick up some brochures and walk the boardwalks on our own? Will it be overrun during the wkends? DD wants to go after seeing some pics on the internet.

              Hi

May I know where can I park near the jetty thats most economical? Best is per entry… Thanks! As we won’t know how long we will spend at Pulau Ubin, so can’t determine how many coupons to use. Thanks in advance.

                    hi

No permit is required for camping at any of the 3 campsites. You would have to bring your own tents. There are toilets but water is not suitable for drinking. No bathing facilities.

There is a Celestial Resort, former Ubin Lagoon Resort or Marina Country Club (MCC), that rent out air-conditioned chalets with facilities.

I do not believe there is any restriction to bring pets to the island, but some places within the island may not allow pets.

I’ve been to pilau Ubin several times. Once we stayed at Pungol marina’s chalet. They let you park in Pungol marina, then take their boat over to Ubin. Facilities are basic but clean enough if you don’t look into the nooks n corners.

N Parks operate a guided tour to Chek Jawa, and their volunteers take people on the tour climb down to walk on the sand banks to look at and touch the marine life there. They did not let people who are not on the tour walk on the sand banks. But if you do not take the tour, you can still walk on the broad walk above the sand banks. But it’s best to check for low tide as it’s much more interesting then. You can take a "bus" from the jetty to chek jawa. I think there is a large car park next to the jetty at the S’pore side.
My DD n her friend were 7 then, and they had lots of funcycling around the island. Just be careful when the occasional car comes round.
