So don't you think it's a bit presumptuous to claim that ALL IP schools are as such? Over-generalization much? I'd go so far as to say it varies from class to class. Depends on your luck, really. And such competitive behaviour isn't found only in IP schools; it's everywhere. Sad to hear that your school has such a poor culture though. Mine didn't, thankfully.

And what's so bad about the homework? My cousin did O levels and I'm pretty sure she did A LOT more homework than I did overall. It is managable. Everything is; you just need to plan your time well.
For the record, please don't use 'much'. Reminds me of horrible things I had to go through. o.O
No, I would go as far as to say that such competitive behaviour is largely restricted to IP schools. And well, the workload? Well I don't know, they stuffed us with tonnes of performance tasks that don't make too much sense, bar the history and lit performance tasks. Over this hol I had to take home some work to do for next year as well. So there. Time management? Bah, yea, sure, it's the panacea to everything right? No amount of time management's gonna help if the teacher doesn't like what you are/do in the first place ๐Ÿ™‚

If you hate IP so much, complain to MOE. You cannot expect everyone to think like you.

I agree its a 'finally'. Without intervention and moderation top students would be from china and marks variance between schools would be wider. Now no need headache to choose primary school, every school everywhere in singapore is the same. ๐Ÿ˜„

What's wrong with students from China? If they're talented and willing to go for it, I'm sure the Singaporeans can challenge them so please, don't lament and just work harder.
I see you are for conformity. Typical Singaporean, you are.

I do not have any objection, if a student from China/Malaysia/Indonesia etc got the highest and become the top scorer, that only means Singaporean student are not up to their standard yet but for this year if Alex Tan is the top student and he is a Singaporean, then I do not think my initial sentence is wrong cos if I remember correctly, last year top student is from China

well im currently in an ip school, so i can tell you that itโ€™s good. the homework here isnโ€™t a lot at all. very little pressure also, especially not from o levels. but as for the more time to prepare for a levels part is lying. from sec 1 to sec 4 all you do is study like what students from other school studies. no reason why you would touch a levels stuff before you go jc. uness you are ultra hardworking and ultra intelligent, that more time to prepare for a levels part is just self delusion.
