I have nothing against the Chinese (and know quite a handful personally) but personal anecdotes suggest otherwise. My godsister from Ningbo graudated from JC last year and is now in UC Berkeley with no intentions of coming back to work or live here. Same thing with seniors who went to Ivies like Cornell and Dartmouth. My ex-tuition teacher comes from Shanghai and has been in Singapore for well over a decade but still sees China as home.
They are Singaporeans as well. They study here, they probably would sink roots here, just listen to what they say. So yea, my gripe is with you people not acknowledgin that the 'foreign' scholars are singaporeans too.
If you think your holiday homework load is bad, I can assure you it is not; it is normal. O track people have EVEN more to do over the hols, apart from additional classes. The amount of work Oxbridge or Ivies undergrads do during their break; now THAT is horrifying. Ours is like the tip of the iceberg in comparison -

They can be Singaporean in attitude. Tell me, is the spirit of the law more important or the letter of the law? As long as one considers himself part of the Singaporean community and he isn't an illegal migrant, he can be 'Singaporean', no problem.lolkthanksbye:

They can only be cosider Singaporean if they are holding a pick IC when taking PSLE. How many of them are holding it? I am pretty sure that despite that the top student might be a Singaporean but I firmly believe there will be a few non-Singaporean lining up next to him.
I like your attitude of upgrading yourself and self improvement when you are behind the Q, keep it up or you will be left behind. -

personally, that seems understandable, for your tuition teacher he/she has the same mindset as the migrants of the 1800s. your seniors are smart in my opinion haha, the US > Singapore.
