My sister got A* for Science and the rest all As, 242. Very happy for her πŸ™‚ She's in the third class, after her school's (MGS) own gifted program class and the top class. The average score of her class is around 240++. If this year's PSLE was harder, I think there'd be more 250s.

      She's going back to MGS.

In NJC, boarding is a requirement.

i am also considering putting my son to NJC. But when i read abt Boarding as a requirement, i change my mind. My son is too pampered to be taking care of himself at the age of 13.
My daughter's T-score is 252 and she's looking at Cedar Girls' and NanChiau High School. Do you think Nan Chiau or Cedar is good for her? She's interested in Arts/Choir as a CCA and we are staying in Hougang. Thanks for your suggestions πŸ™‚

Hougang to Cedar is not very far. I would say go for Cedar with that score. :celebrate:

Hi Thanks for your advise, we planned to go for Cedar Open Hse this Saturday.
Hi GreenMom, should go Cedar, my niece was there this yr Sec 1 and she enjoyed the school facilities and enviornment...

There are alot of \"Black Horses\" this year...but thats the unpredictable nature of PSLE, you either make or break, no in btwn, to all those who did not achieve their dream marks, its ok, one figure does not determine your intelligence, it only determines how much you can improve πŸ™‚ everyone can improve according to their abilties πŸ™‚

              I love this one πŸ™‚

DD's HCL tr called her black/dark horse and she said why you call me horse? Her Chinese really tt bad! But I believe her tr is proud of her - told me she's there to help pupils get A* but for my dd, an A is very possible!

can i appeal for RGS? (she got NYGH offer already)

By all means go ahead and appeal. I was in the same position where my daughter was offered NYGH but I wanted to appeal to RGS but in the end didn't. Now both she and I are regretting it. Look at the end it is RJC vs Hwa Chong JC.
And RJC is top by a mile.

Both JCs have their merits. There are people in RGS who still end up transferring to HC because of their Humanities Programme.
True but Hwa Chong's A level results pales in comparison to RJC's.

It is better to match her interests with the strengths of the secondary school (and the JC eventually).

                        Hi Rosemummy, 25hourmaid

We know the risk of not indicating SJI as his 1st choice. He will lose this \"right' of getting into SJI.

If my son does get into AHS/CCHS/NH/MS, we are also worried cos it they are SAP school so we are sure whether he can cope with the HMT.

                        Is SJI good???

                        Appreciate feedback please.

                        TX
SJI is an independent school. All my friends whose sons are there are very happy and doing well. They have 1 of the strongest alumni network. Many of the old boys are doing very well and very supportive of the school.

Not sure about the SAP schools, but before they merge the Special and Express streams, the cut-off for Special is 250 and above. If you're worried about HMT, or if he didn't do Higher Chinese, it may not be a good idea to go to a SAP school, though HMT is not compulsory in the schools you're looking at. My cousin used to teach in a SAP school which only offer HMT. She was telling me that some of the students, including those with around 260 and above, are struggling with their HMT which affect their other subjects. They'll have to leave the school if they fail HMT since CL2 is not an option in the school. Also, for a child from SJIJ, going to a Chinese school environment could be a bit of a culture shock.

Talk through this carefully with your son. If I were you, I won't take the risk.
