Thanks for your quick reply. I have one more doubt.258 probably will be more than enough, considering the market action.

The problem, of course, is that by saying this, I am influencing the market. But the margin should be sufficient.
One of my friends told me that -- in the S-1 school selection Form given under the Centralised Posting Exercise, there is no way to indicate that \"we want to be considered only for the IP program of ACS(I)\". Is that true?
He also said that since it is the \"discretion\" of ACS-I to allow a student to IP program or 'O' level express stream, there is always a danger that one may get a seat in ACS(I) but not be in the IP program in spite of scoring a good aggregate, since the CoP for the IP program is not transperantly mentioned!
I am quite confused on this. How to ensure that the boy with 258 does not end up in the 'O-level stream' at ACS (I)?
I am perhaps not clear in my understanding of the process. Please clarify.
Thank you very much. -

Past (09-07) IB COP were 255, 257, 257 ; Past EESIS 261, 263, 264.

Altho cant specify IB only in S1, your chances of IB are high as this year's EESIS is 260. On the off chance get into O level track, can still do well in S2 exam, they have another intake at S3 limited to mainly ACSI students. -

Ah... there's also the downside — your son might get into the IP at Year 1 and do badly subsequently, resulting in transfer to the O-level track after Year 2. Then he'd have to do well in the O-levels to get posted back to the IBDP for Year 5.

In a sense, unlike most other IP schools, ACS(I) has a 'convenient dumping ground' in the O-level track. They can sideline students for 'early removal' so that it doesn't affect their IBDP results at Year 6. -

You have given good info and insights.
I think one needs to know all these and be fully aware of the readily available 'dumping ground', before taking the plunge.
Thanks and regards. -

Considering all downside of going to schools that have both IP & O -level ., it is better to concertrate on O-level. That will keep option open , if you want to do IB over Junior College -

I have a question on ACS (I).
In several IP schools, ‘boarding’ seems to be mandatory for some period during Sec 1 to Sec 4. Even in NUS High school, such a ‘boarding’ requirement exists.
In ACS (I) is there such a compulsory ‘boarding’ requirement? i.e., are the students expected to spend any semester in the school hostel? Or is it ‘optional’?
Can someone clarify, please. -
tiger262:
There is no truly mandatory boarding requirement for ACS(I). Students are not expected to spend a specific semester in the school hostel. However, IP students are offered the Special Boarding Programme for one year, if they want to take it up. It can be quite an experience having to do your own tidying up and so on. I recommend it based on my experience.I have a question on ACS (I).

Foreign scholars board, and so do students who enter by DSA or other indirect means and are academically poor. In the latter case, it is because ACS(I) prides itself in its compulsory study program which is held five nights a week (Sun to Thu).
The ACS(I) BS is normally almost at maximum load all the time, anyway...

If my DS score 254+2, he went to ACS, will he be 100% guaranteed to go for the IP Programme, or will he sit for the O'levels?
Someone please answer my pleas!!
