      Hi all

My son scored 255 +2. we stay in Toa Payoh. We r thinking of putting the following schools:

      1st - hwa Chong
      2nd - njc
      3rd - catholic high
      4th - Victoria school
      5th - ???
      6th- ????

I am hoping he can get into ip school and he is keen to go to hwa Chong.

As for njc, read one of the posts saying that teachers r not professional so not advisable to go there. Any views on this?

Also thinking whether to try nus high but a friend told me there r bgr issues. Btw if one is offered a place in nus high, does it mean he/she will not be offered a place in any of the 6 choices?

After reading so much about ip schools, I am even thinking of choosing river valley but it is way too far from Toa Payoh. However, Ds has more chances of getting in.
Headache now, so would appreciate advice on this.
      Thks
Don't believe every single word posted him. Take it with a pinch of salt.
You can browse through NJC thread and NUS High thread to find out more. Visit the schools to get a feel of the environment. Talk to the students there. In this way, a more informed decision can be made. All the best ! 😄

bgr issue happens in all co-ed sec sch. non-co-ed also have, just less chance of contact only. Then again, this does not happen to every sec sch student lah.
I think your son stand a good chance of getting into hci.

a frend of mine was in the same situation with the same score (exactly) now in hci and found that he actually likes maths and science and week in humanity subjects. He now kind of regret not choosing nush ... so it depends on your child.

            Hi 25hourmaid,

I am thinking of the following schools for my DS

            1st choice - SJI (affifilation)
            2nd choice - Chung Cheng High School (236 - 263)
            3rd choice - TKS (234 - 257)
            4th choice - Maris Stella High School (232 - 261)
            5th choice - Nan Chiau (231 -258)

            What is yr view?

            Tx
Oh dear, you are making me sound as if I am an expert,  which I am not!

If I didn't recall wrongly, your son got 238, right? And if based on 238, I think you have made quite a good choice and I think getting into SJI as an affilated student is quite high. And since the schools seem to be in the Norh East area, I would say you can include Zhonghua as one of your choices. Their COP was 236 last year and I heard from friends that it is quite a good school.

Rivervale Primary sch is so secretive. Doesn't want to reveal despite my daughter is in P5.

              Edgefield Primary 260
              Mee Toh 271

Oh, my daughter is also in Rivervale Primary P5. Did you call the school up to check on its top scorer?

I called the sch, the office staff rudely said \" the result will be publish in the website, check from the website\".

Office staff didn't know the school highest scorer? Ridiculous. All along these office staff have working attitude problems.

Both CCHM and Maris Stella have their own strengths, and I suppose that's where you have to do your homework? How about paying them a visit, going to the website etc to take a look? Important thing is that the child must be comfortable with whichever school that he is going to.

Heard from some fellow forummers who have kids at TKSS that it is quite a good school, but I do not have personal experience with that school.
OK. Time for me to do homework. My colleague has recommended me to take a look at Maris Stella and TKSS. She has very good comments for TKSS.

                Once again, thanks.

Yes, take your time to do your homework, after all, you have up to Monday to submit your selection.

Make use of this weekend to do your homework. A friend of mine did just that and drove his daughter to all the 6 schools before they decided on Cedar at the end of it and she's very happy there now.

Just wondering if anyone has the latest statistics on the mean score for this year’s PSLE vs 2009. Will we be expecting the COP for most of the schools to dip slightly this year?

Thanks 25hoursmaid. Based on the highest PSLE score for 2009 (290) vs 2010 (282), do you think we can assume the COP for 2011 will dip?
