Hmmm... I guess not. Had a look at 2008 (287) and noticed that the COP 2009 for some schools are higher than that for 2010. I guess a best way to gauge is using the mean PSLE score.

      khchan:
Thanks 25hoursmaid. Based on the highest PSLE score for 2009 (290) vs 2010 (282), do you think we can assume the COP for 2011 will dip?

I think it depends on the amount of students around that particular range, as the intake is still the same every year, lets take rgs for example, if there are very little students around 260 range, they might accept students below that range. But, lets say for Cedar, there are LOTS of students at 247 range, so they might increase the COP, to maybe slightly higher.

Haha, I am no expert in that area, but it is a well known fact that COPs fluctuate every year due to the intake of students.

By design of T-score, the mean every year is unchanged, fixed at 200. So you can't use it to gauge the COP.

My neighbor has scored 247 including her higher chinese. St Nicks has IP program me in 2013 right? I heard that when we reach sec 2 than we would be able to chose if we want to get into IP during sec 3. How much chance will she stand to get into st nicks or cedar? Will the COP drop this year?

Anyone has any comments on Nan Chiau High? I noticed their GCE ‘O’ Level Band is Band 1 which is on par with most of the elite schools. NCH is at the top notch now and their COP is 231 and 232 based on 2010 and 2009 respectively.

Tell your wife that 235 is a good score. It is already above national average. Believe the national average hovers around 230 every year, plus and minus.

From your choices, I figured that you are somewhere in the East. How about Maris Stella and Nan Chiau? Both are within your score.

I would say 235 is a bit risky for SJI. Their COP was 241 last year, but yet I have heard of people appealing and entering with 231 a few years back.

Thanks. I am thinking of Maris Stella as well. Which one will be a better choice - Chung Cheng (Main) or Maris Stella? What's the opinion for Tanjong Katong Secondary?

If u like to try for SJI, suggest u put it as 1st choice, then appeal. Your chances will be good if you are catholic, or ur son has strong cca records. Is he fr sji affiliated schs? Cos they will usually entertain appeals only if u place it as 1st choice.

Otherwise st andrews should be quite safe for 235. It is affiliated to sajc too.

The only thing is that Nan Chiau does not offer IP if u dun mind. It does not even plan to like some other schools in 2013. But still I think that Nan Chiau is not a bad choice of schools.
