Anyone has any comments on Nan Chiau High? I noticed their GCE 'O' Level Band is Band 1 which is on par with most of the elite schools. NCH is at the top notch now and their COP is 231 and 232 based on 2010 and 2009 respectively.

The only thing is that Nan Chiau does not offer IP if u dun mind. It does not even plan to like some other schools in 2013. But still I think that Nan Chiau is not a bad choice of schools.
Tell your wife that 235 is a good score. It is already above national average. Believe the national average hovers around 230 every year, plus and minus.

From your choices, I figured that you are somewhere in the East. How about Maris Stella and Nan Chiau? Both are within your score.

I would say 235 is a bit risky for SJI. Their COP was 241 last year, but yet I have heard of people appealing and entering with 231 a few years back.

Thanks. I am thinking of Maris Stella as well. Which one will be a better choice - Chung Cheng (Main) or Maris Stella? What's the opinion for Tanjong Katong Secondary?

If u like to try for SJI, suggest u put it as 1st choice, then appeal. Your chances will be good if you are catholic, or ur son has strong cca records. Is he fr sji affiliated schs? Cos they will usually entertain appeals only if u place it as 1st choice.

Otherwise st andrews should be quite safe for 235. It is affiliated to sajc too.
Thanks for the views. We are non-catholic or should I say - Free Thinker. My son does not has a good CCA records either.

            Hi~

My son scored 186 for his PSLE with an A in English and C for all other subjects so normal acad it is!

I’m looking for a secondary school with a good reputation for their normal academic stream in Sengkang, Hougang or Punggol. Would appreciate it if anyone could let me know of any recommendations? I’m looking into Nan Chiau and Xinmin Sec but I’m afraid my son’s score would not be eligible for Xinmin’s normal academic.

            Thanks in advance!

Could someone explain what is IP? I went through the Admission Booklet/Sch Website and found IP can be Integrated Program or Instructional Program.

If he has a good cca to support him, can try. Do u also consider Nan Hua, SAP school?

My neighbor has scored 247 including her higher chinese. St Nicks has IP program me in 2013 right? I heard that when we reach sec 2 than we would be able to chose if we want to get into IP during sec 3. How much chance will she stand to get into st nicks or cedar? Will the COP drop this year?

The new 7 IP Schools do not start with 2010 P6 Batch.

It start from 2011 P6 Batch for VS and 2012 P6 Batch for the other 6.

Sec 2 refers to the 2 batch of students who go to the non IP of the schools and when they do well in sec 2 have a chance to switch.

Try Nan Chiau High - COP is 182. This will be the last batch they are taking in Normal Stream as NCH is accorded the SAP status from 2012.
