do you think the COP will drop this year? besides, what are my chances of obtaining a place if the difference in my marks and the COP is 1-3 marks? is it rather possible?

On the subject of appeal, your view is identical as mine. Many hve underestimated the stress that comes with it. Vast majority ends up frustrated.
:goodpost: INNOVATE! From my experience of being in this thread the last two days, I strongly believe that the two of us think along the same lines in many areas! :celebrate:

Cannot agree with you more about underestimating the appeal process and the frustration that follows! :celebrate:

2nd and third choices must be cop must be marginally lower than top choice. Closer to yr home there's one gd neighbourhood school in Commonwealth Sec. The other possible choice maybe Clementi Sec. Anw chk their cop first.

Yr son will be admitted to Maris. No worries.
          I second that! :celebrate:

            Hi 25hourMaid, Innvoate :

I know my choices look weird. This is because he wants to go SJI initially, but i told him with 234 is difficult, then he said can appeal. But to appeal i need to put SJI as one of the choice and not too far behind, am i right ? But like what Innovate said, long waiting list, i doubt his chances of getting in.

And I do not want to him to miss his chance of going into Maris Stella. So my intention is to get him in to Maris Stella first, then appeal to SJI (though i know is very slight chance).

Yes, commonwealth is in one of the option.

Really at a lost of how to arrange the options with such a score 😢

At this stage nobody knows not even MOE. If you yr kid has something good to offer to his/her dream sch, then put it as first choice provided the cop is no more than 2 pts away. Then yr 2nd choice is critical must be within yr cop. If unsure, choose the sch within yr kid’s cop as thr top choice and above all, one that’s able to add value.

Never never go for prestige, popularity, or peers pressure.

Understand where you are coming from, but unfortunately, I am not in the West, so my knowledge of schools in the West is quite limited, but I second your thoughts about putting Maris Stella and getting him in there first, after all, Maris Stella is a good school. Then work on the appeal to SJI if you are still interested though chances are not that high.

However, if this helps, many years ago, my friend's son successfully appealed to SJI with 231. Not sure what was the COP then and that he was accepted based on what criteria. All I know was that she went through a very stressful period during the appeal process.

She's a P6 girl, not parent and she's 3 points off from her dream school.
