Is bedok town a good school?

May be you can consider Bedok Green, COP 209.

Thanks. but his mother is currently having a headache, he wants HCL. :stupid:[/quote]HCL = Higher Chinese? Most schools allow students to do HCL, if you get A* in Chinese Lang (i think). I also know students who did well in Sec 1 are offered to do HCL in Sec 2.

I would recommend Bedok Green as my nephew is from that school. I found that their O level and N level results have been good for a new school (started in 2001). Also their teachers are helpful to the students. I know it as my nephew promoted from Sec 1 NT to Sec 2 NA, and the teachers have been patience with him as the jump is really too much for him to cope.

Another good school nearby is Damai Sec. One more at Tampines is Junyuan Sec.

Bedok Town will merge with Chai Chee Sec in Jan 2011. Hence I cannot comment much. However, I would said the students from Bedok Town are more well behave now, as compared to the past. However, you can still find some \"mischevious\" one (which is common in any school), who like to hang around at the HDB flats nearby.

Glad that yoiu are providing very good advice to parents including many heading for neighbourhood schools.

God bless u and all your loved ones.
:celebrate: Just doing my best to help especially since some of the members here are really lost, so since I have been through the PSLE twice, thought would be good to share what I know. 😉

Does anyone know how schools like RGS allocate classes in Sec 1?

Is it according to the children’s PSLE scores?

I suspect that is why before the implementation of IP, many RI and RGS students have chosen HCJC over RJC.

Where did you get this information from?

90% of RI/RGS cohort chose to go to RJC...over HCJC many times.

Even b4 the implemenation of IP, RJC have be ranked the top JC for many years.

You see..I say \"many\", I didn't say \"most\". RJC was created in 1982(?), that is not many years after HCJC, there were a fair share of many years that HCJC is the top JC too.

At least quite a number of HCJC's president scholars were RGS's alumni.

Dd got 238. I live in toa payoh. Which would be the 6 choices? Totally confused. Should i risk putting crescent as first choice or will it be wasted? Will COPs drop this time? If i want dd to get into CHIJ TOa Payoh should that be my first choice?(she is not from IJ primary) If 2 people with same score apply to IJ will the person who put CHIJ as first choice get preference over the other person who put it as second choice?

Pls pls help… Thank you all soooo much.

do you think the COP will drop this year? besides, what are my chances of obtaining a place if the difference in my marks and the COP is 1-3 marks? is it rather possible?

my view is that it may drop , coz highest at 282 only compared to past yrs , the next comes 270 plus, so logically it shd drop . is it right this way ?

We need both RI and HCI to compete against each other only than overall standards can rise. No one is superior to the other. RI is no longer that angmos pie with a fair number of chinese scholars around and HCI is also not exclusively chinese pie with their renown humanities programme that’s so angmos.

That’s what i hve been telling to people. Any argument to claim that one is superior to the other is totally not instructive.

In the past, most of the secondary schools offering the GEP program make a distinction only between the primary GEP students and the non-GEPers but never in PSLE score order.

2nd and third choices must be cop must be marginally lower than top choice. Closer to yr home there's one gd neighbourhood school in Commonwealth Sec. The other possible choice maybe Clementi Sec. Anw chk their cop first.

Yr son will be admitted to Maris. No worries.

                        I second that! :celebrate:

Thank you so much for the advises. I was really at a lost yesterday when saw his result. Expected him to get >240, even he himself expected that too ... all the choices we decided were thrown out of the window.

Some of the schools we consider are : Maris Stella (232), Commonwealth (236), Swiss Cottage (234), Clementi Town (230), St Andrew (233)..

and SJI has to be in there cos he wants to appeal

Now the headache is how to arrange the order ...
