Mad-Eye Moody:
Why don't you consider RV is distance is not an issue? The score will be safe with RV but borderline for HCI, DHS and NJC.My DS scored 254+2. Here are the choices. Please comment, I need you guys' help in making the right choice for my son.
1st: HCI
2nd:DHS
3rd:NJC
4th:ACS(I)
5th:VS
6th:CCHS
We are just trying our luck on NJC and DHS.... -
vanthevehicle1998:
No, in your case, your 2 extra points can only be used for application to Chung Cheng, but not to a non-SAP school, so means if you want to apply to CCHM, your T-score would be 228, but for any other schools, it would be 226.
so...if i am not going to a sap school, i can't add marks?25hourmaid:
Yes, your 2 extra points can only be used for application to SAP schools.
Hope that helps and oops, since we are at that, I think 228 to try for CCHM is very, very risky, considering their COP was 236. -

You see..I say \"many\", I didn't say \"most\". RJC was created in 1982(?), that is not many years after HCJC, there were a fair share of many years that HCJC is the top JC too.stetan:
I suspect that is why before the implementation of IP, many RI and RGS students have chosen HCJC over RJC.
Where did you get this information from?
90% of RI/RGS cohort chose to go to RJC...over HCJC many times.
Even b4 the implemenation of IP, RJC have be ranked the top JC for many years.
At least quite a number of HCJC's president scholars were RGS's alumni.
What's your definition of many?
maybe 20 out of the entire cohort of 400 ?
you are trying to create an impression of a mass migration ...
You were right that HCJC was ranked the top JCs for many years, until RJC came about and it become top till IP started. -
Mummygrateful:
I would move CCHM up to 1st choice, might as well take advantage of the HMT points.my dd scored 235 (+2 for HMT), selected 6 schools as follows, please advise if the choices are wise.
1) Tanjong Katong Sec (COP for 2009 234)
2) Tanjong Katong Girls (COP for 2009 233)
3 Chung Cheng Main (COP for 2009 236)
4) Zhonghua Sec (COP for 2009 236)
5) Geylang Methoodist sec (COP for affiliation 188), my gal from the pri sch.
6) MacPherson Sec (COP for 2009 188)
Greatly appreciate anyone's kind advice.
And since you are putting Geylang Methodist as your 5th choice, you can no longer use the COP for affilated students, so you would be competiting with those with COPs of 222. -
vanthevehicle1998:

You were right that HCJC was ranked the top JCs for many years, until RJC came about and it become top till IP started.
For the past 20-30 years, The Chinese High School and Nanyang Girls High School hardly produced more than 5 president scholars (total) but HCJC managed to produce one of the highest number of president scholars among all JCs. You go and figure where the students came from? It is not hard to think that at least a few came from schools like RGS and RI.
For me, if there are 30-50 students, and they happened to be outstanding, it is sufficient to give an impression of \"many\".
